“You ruined my birthday party, drove a wedge between my brother and me, spread lies about me in front of my family and friends- all of that was just petty issues. I’ll deal with them in my own way.
“But you ordered Alec to push me down the stairs, trying to break my leg just to keep me off this stage…”
I paused for a moment, watching her face drain of color, and then sneered.
“Isn’t playing the piano your proudest achievement? Did you lose the confidence to compete with me on the same stage?”
The chaos on and off stage was palpable.
In the end, the teacher in charge of the anniversary performance escorted both Linda and me off the stage.
The host quickly stepped in to regain control.

The next act was our group’s classical dance.
I passed by the girls in the performance group as they prepared backstage.
Rachel, teary–eyed, rushed up and grabbed my hand.
“Are you hurt?! I should’ve gone with you.”
“I’m fine.”
I smiled, gently patting her head to reassure her.
“Go on and perform. You’ve practiced for so long–make sure you give yourself a performance you’re proud of.” The winner of the anniversary performance would receive a prize of twenty thousand dollars.
From the beginning, this dance wasn’t for me–it was for them.
I watched as they took the stage, a sense of relief washing over me.
Then, as pain and exhaustion coursed through my body, I closed my eyes.
My consciousness slipped into darkness.

I woke up in the hospital.
That night, Shawn stormed into my room.
“Crazy bitch! Sierra Wood, you’re truly insane!”
He planned to follow a set path, carefully guiding his beloved to a place where she would shine and stand out.
It was like nurturing a flower from a bud to full bloom–something that would bring him immense satisfaction. But I would never give him that kind of chance.
“What are you going to do, Brother? Your precious little angel didn’t even finish playing her piece. And the plan to break my leg has been exposed. She won’t ever make it to the school she wanted.”
I suddenly remembered something.
“Oh, and by the way, your accomplice, Alec, Is still lying on the floor of the multipurpose building. If you get the chance, maybe you should send him to the hospital.”
