Everyone immediately turned to look at us. Joel stood next to me. His tall 6’3” frame gave him an intimidating presence.
“Is everything okay?” he asked while softly pulling me into his arms. “He didn’t hurt you, did he?”
“No.” I shook my head.
Joel kept me behind him and turned to face Zach. He coldly said, “Mr. Jefferson, what dress my fiancee wears is between us.
“You’re just an outsider. It’s not your business.”
“I’m an outsider?” Zach’s face immediately darkened as he stepped closer. “Yulia, what does he mean by that?”
Joel’s expression as he stepped in front of Zach.
He usually had a cold demeanor and was a successful businessman. People in Central City usually respected him.
His visage made everyone else too nervous to say anything.
But Zach was unfazed. He followed me closely and asked, “Yulia, are you playing some kind of game again?
“You sure have got some guts to have another man play an act with you. Stop right there!”
I ignored him and went straight to Joel’s car.
Once inside, I asked, “How did you find me?”
He showed me his phone screen. “Zach’s been talking non–stop in the group chat about picking up Sienna. He’s been making a scene all morning.”
I could not help but laugh. How childish. How did I ever end up with him?
My phone suddenly rang. It was Zach.
