It had been so long since Carl last worried about me like this
Had it been five years? Eight years? Maybe even longer.
In my memories, we were always inseparable and knew each other more deeply than anyone else in the world. I would give him all of my parents‘ resources without hesitation, and he confidently believed he would become the pack’s future alpha.
I had relied entirely on him, convinced that I would never leave his side.
I had been certain I would spend my life with him.
But he had taken advantage of me, shamelessly hurting me while blatantly flirting with another woman.
I glanced down at my phone screen filled with countless missed calls and blocked Carl’s number. As I was about to delete him from my social media contacts, I noticed he had changed his profile picture.
Gone was the photo I took for him ten years ago, replaced with a shot of him in front of a luxurious building–a picture of a successful man.
Suddenly, I remembered something Carl had said to me years ago.
“When a guy suddenly changes his profile picture after a long time, it means there’s a new woman in his life. Babe, look how much I love you. I haven’t changed the picture you took for me.”
