But my tears couldn’t help but spill out and blur my vision.
With only an hour left before I had to get up, I finally fell into a restless sleep.
Carl’s voice echoed in my dreams.
“You can’t leave, Blaire! You can’t walk away from me! I won’t allow it! Who said you can marry another man? You can only be with me! I was wrong. Please, give me another chance. Blaire, please forgive me.”
Tears soaked my face, and I cried uncontrollably.
It wasn’t until Mom woke me up that I snapped out of the nightmare.
“What’s wrong, Blaire? What did you dream about? Why are you crying so much? Do you not want to get married?
If you don’t want to, we won’t do it. I’ll tell them, don’t force yourself.”
I quickly grabbed her hand. “No, I do want to get married. I just had a bad dream, that’s all.”
After washing up, I was getting my makeup and hair done when my phone rang.
It was Ivy. She was probably calling to gloat, as she had won and I had become the coward.
I didn’t answer but instead hung up on her. However, she immediately sent me several messages.
“Blaire, I’m sorry, It’s all my fault. Please forgive me. Could you talk to Carl and ask him not to fire me?”
“I don’t want to return to the pack at the borders. I really can’t lose this job! I can’t even afford the rent for the apartment on my own. I’ve used up all my savings, and I just can’t hang on any longer!”
“I admit I had some feelings for Carl before, but nothing happened, I swear on my life! He won’t answer my calls, and he’s deleted me from his contacts. I really don’t know what to do. I had to ask you for help. The whole company says Carl loves you the most. Whatever you say, he’ll listen.”
