“What do you want?”
I snapped, my eyes locked on the bracelets. He fiddled with them, knowing he had the upper hand.
“I told you. I don’t want a divorce.
“Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you, Sarah.”
Tyler’s plea fell on deaf ears. My resolve had hardened.
“I don’t care about anything else. Just give me back the bracelets.”
Tyler’s expression darkened, and he asked firmly, “Is there really no room for compromise?”

“None,” I replied with resolute.
Mindy, who had been quietly watching, chose this momento step in
“Sarah, I know Tyler neglected you because he was helping me I’ll move out today 1 don’t want to cause you more trouble,”
With that, she untied the apron and began gathering her child’s things
However, Tyler stopped her. “This has nothing to do with you. You don’t have to go.”
He turned back to me, his eyes cold.
“Sarah, I’ve been patient, but you’re pushing your luck. Deyou really want this divorce?”
“I couldn’t be clearer.”
Tyler nodded and held the bracelets out toward me. Just as reached to take them, he let them slip through his fingers.
“Crash!”
The delicate bracelets hit the floor and shattered.
1 froze and stared at Tyler.
He looked back at me calmly, as if the act had been premeditated.
“You bastard!” I screamed, throwing my bag at his face. I dropped to my knees, scrambling to pick up the broken pieces scattered across the floor.
Before I could gather them all, Tyler tossed a document in front of me.
“You want a divorce? Fine. Sign this.”
I glanced down at the document, and my heart sank. A divorce agreement. His demand? I walk away with nothing My eyes widened as I stared at him, disbelief coursing through me. It didn’t take long to piece things together.
So this was what he’d been waiting for. Those other times he refused to discuss a divorce were all leading up to
this moment.
Now that he had fame and wealth, divorcing me meant losing half of it. Clearly, that wasn’t something Ethan was willing to let happen.
Tyler’s tone was cold. “That’s the deal. Take it or leave it.”
Perhaps feeling uncomfortable, Mindy stepped forward to thediate.
“Tyler, don’t do this. Don’t make things harder for her. This is all my fault. I’ll leave, and you two can work things out,”
I stopped her with a raised hand.
“You don’t need to go anywhere,” I said, each word sharp and deliberate. “I’ll sign it.”
