Chapter 7
As the woman a
approached, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, almost freezing.
1 quietly took a step to the side.
Brad’s eyes were glued to Linda, his voice angry, “How dare you come back.”
Linda snorted softly, “You’ve found a stand–in behind my back, why shouldn’t I come back?”
Their gazes locked, sparks flying.
She was confronting him about finding a new flame, while he was furious about her leaving without a word.
What a pair of star–crossed lovers.
Brad scoffed, “A stand–in? What makes you think I’d be so hung up on you that I’d do something so stupid?”
Oh, Brad!
Don’t be so stubborn!
You’ll lose your girl at this rate!
Linda’s face flushed with anger. Seeing Brad’s cold attitude, she turned to size me up instead.
Oops.
I’d been so caught up in the drama, I’d forgotten I was the cause of all this.
I nervously smoothed my messy hair, feeling completely out of place.
“Miss, what’s your relationship with Brad
Oh boy.
How should I answer that?
I glanced at Brad, trying to figure out what he wanted me to say.
After a moment’s thought, I replied with a look of disdain, I’m his girlfriend. Got a problem with that?”
Brad was treating Linda like she was nothing.
He probably wanted to use me to make her jealous.
That’s it!
Brad, your loyal lapdog is here to help!
Linda’s face turned livid.
I stepped forward and took Brad’s hand, putting on airs like I owned him. “I don’t know what history you two might have had, but now, Brad is mine.”
