“Edmond, in here!” I heard Payton’s voice.
The bedroom door suddenly slammed open.
!” Edmond rushed in, followed by a few people.
“Trish!”
The three people already in the bedroom froze at the sound, staring at Edmond in shock.
Zeke and Hendrick were both deeply confused, wondering why Edmond was here and whether I was really going to marry him.
Edmond quickly swept me off the sofa in his arms and signaled for the family doctor to come forward and check
on me.
Ever since 1 collapsed from an allergic reaction during a previous incident, Edmond had made it a habit to bring a doctor with him whenever he visited, just in case something went wrong.
Today was supposed to be our engagement party. Edmond had gone to the airport to pick up a piece of jewelry he’d purchased at an auction, which had delayed him. But he certainly hadn’t expected to find me in this state when he arrived.
The family doctor gave me some medication and then rushed me to the bathroom to induce vomiting. After a while, my face finally regained some color.
“Why is Trish in such bad shape?” Edmond asked coldly, still holding me in his arms.
The family doctor wiped the sweat from his forehead and explained, “Mr. Hardy, Ms. Chambers ingested food containing an allergen, which triggered an allergic reaction”
Before Edmond could respond, Zeke quickly interjected, “Mr. Hardy… this must be some sort of misunderstanding. Trish didn’t eat anything containing mango.”
But the doctor was quick to add, “From Ms. Chambers‘ vornit, we detected traces of mango in the biscuits she just ate.”
Zeke and Hendrick exchanged horrified glances before looking directly at Vivian
Vivian had never seen such a tense scene, and she immediately shrank back, too frightened to speak.
Payton, always sharp–eyed, noticed Vivian was wearing my clothes. She marched over and grabbed Vivian by the arm. “What are you doing wearing Trish’s clothes? And wearing her jewelry? Are you out of your mind?”
Vivian let out a shrill scream and looked pleadingly at Zeke and Hendrick. “Zeke… Hendrick…”
Though Edmond’s presence was overpowering, Zeke still summoned the courage to speak. “Mr. Hardy… Trish has always treated Vivian like a sister. It shouldn’t be a big deal fa sister borrows clothes, right?”
Edmond looked at Zeke and Hendrick, then at Vivian, who was desperately trying to deny her actions. With a cold smile, he said, “I thought you two were such good friends with Trish. I used to feel comforted knowing Trish had both of you as her childhood friends. I even planned to invite you to a meal after our engagement, and maybe help your families‘
‘businesses. But now it seems you’re not protecting Trish at all, but someone else. Didn’t Trish tell you? The last time she was hospitalized due to an allergy, was because Vivian tricked her into drinking mango Juice.”
“That’s impossible!” Zeke and Hendrick spoke in unison.
“I don’t care about the clothes you’re wearing, but I won’t let Trish wear anything someone else has worn. As for

Vivian shook her head violently. “No! It wasn’t me! Trish broke the moonstone hair clip herself!”
She clung desperately to Zeke’s shirt. “Zeke, please help me out. Didn’t you say I’m your favorite person in the world?”
Zeke remained silent.
Vivian turned to Hendrick, her voice pleading. “Hendrick, tell them I didn’t break it.”
Hendrick sighed deeply and cautiously spoke, “Mr. Hardy Vivian did break the moonstone hair clip, but she didn’t do it on purpose.
