“I didn’t do anything wrong!” she sobbed, staggering toward me. Her once–elegant dress was wrinkled, and her eyes were hollow, filled with exhaustion and madness. “I just loved Danny. I wanted to take him from you. Why do I have to suffer like this?
“You were born privileged, Paige. Everything you wanted was handed to you. Meanwhile, I had to accept your charity and thank you for it.
“I was so close–so close to breaking free. But Danny loved you, not me. To him, I was just a toy. And now? He’s punishing me. He’s given me to countless men!”
Her words spiraled into a bitter, broken scream. “I’ll drag Danny to hell with me. And when I’m a ghost, I’ll make sure you follow us. You’ll suffer the way I have!”
Before I could react, she hurled herself out the window.
At that same moment, Danny was arrested.
Mia had reported him to the police before the gala, accusing him of countless crimes, including abuse and
torment.
In the end, Mia was gone, and Danny was sentenced to three years in prison.
As for me? Unchanged, unbroken.
