Laura screamed, and I asked, “What happened? What’s going on over there?”
Laura said nothing even after a long time passed. Eventually, I lost my patience and wanted to hang up, but at that moment, Laura suddenly started bawling, “Anya, something bad happened! My dad has lost his mind!
“Please come to the hospital to check on him!”
Those words made my heart sink. Even though I was prepared for this when I destroyed the gramophone Laura gave me, no matter what, Gary was my uncle. Even if they ruined my father in the previous cycle, since he was my relative, I still had some complicated feelings about them.
I replied grimly, “Okay. I’ll go over right now. Calm down.”
Once I hung up, based on the methods I figured out at home, I pasted on fake skin covered in lumps and made myself look horrible. Then, I wrapped myself up in a thick scarf before I left.
When I got to the hospital, I found Gary pinning Laura to the floor and hitting her.

Gary had also lost his mind. He kept slapping Laura’s face, and his eyes were bloodshot. He looked terrifying.
