If he did, why cheat in the first place?
I did not wait for an answer and just turned to leave.
He called out, stopping me in my tracks.
“Today’s your birthday. Can you make it home? I want to throw you a birthday bash.”
“That’s a surprise.”
I could not help but chuckle.
“Mr. Smith actually remembers my birthday even though he’s always so busy at work.”

Chapter 7
He looked at me, his face etched with regret. “I’m sorry. I’ve been neglecting you.”
I only went home with him because I was curious to see what he had in store for me.
Once we were in the car, I offered to take the wheel.
He looked at me, astonished. “You can drive?”
“Yep.”
I shrugged it off.
“I signed up for driving school a while back and passed with flying colors in a month.
“I didn’t use your cash. I paid with my own money.”
“That’s not what I meant,” he said, his voice tinged with sadness.
“We’re married. It’s totally fine for you to use my money.
“I’m just proud of you. I didn’t think you’d pass so quickly.
However, deep down, I knew he was not proud.
He was just shocked that I could pass at all.
Especially since he had once scoffed at me, betting I would never make it in life.
The moment we stepped inside the house, I saw the roses and a gift box.
John shut the door and wrapped his arms around me, his breath hot against my neck.
I felt a wave of revulsion and shoved him away.
“Don’t even start with that!”
The disbelief and hurt in his eyes were clear as day.
“Do you really despise me that much now?
“Yasmin, you never used to be like this.”
That was true.
The old Yasmin was head over heels in love.
However, I had lost all hope back then. I was a new woman now.
“You’ve changed too,” I told him.
His face paled.
He used to only have eyes for me and swore he would never let me down.
Qur marriage should have ended long ago.
