However, Aaron remained as composed and refined as ever

“Mr. Cleave, I have no idea what you’re trying to say today. If your girlfriend broke up with you, perhaps you should reflect on your own actions instead of coming to me
“And for the record, Claire was my senior in university. She’s an exceptional person, and I admire her greatly. Even if I were pursuing her, you two have already broken up. It’s none of your concern.”
At the mention of “pursuing her,” I nearly choked, my face contorting into a full–on are–you–kidding–me expression.
I wracked my brain for memories of our time at university, but Aaron and I had hardly interacted. Nicolas‘ antics had clearly pushed him to the point of saying something that didn’t quite add up.
What was more baffling was that Aaron even agreed to meet with Nicolas in the first place instead of just having security kick him out of the building.
“Well, isn’t that just perfect, Mr. Ford,” Nicolas spat, his voice twisting with bitterness.
Then, with a sharp sneer, he added, “But let’s not pretend you’re as calm as you look.”
“I remember picking up my girlfriend more than once and running into you, Mr. Ford. The way you looked at her? It was far from calm. And tell me this, do you really think she’d leave me so easily? She loved me. All I have to do is see her a few more times, apologize a little, and she’ll take me back.”
Nicolas let out a short, humorless laugh.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Ford. I’ll treat her well for now. We’ll get married, have kids, and when I’ve finally gotten everything I want, she…” He paused deliberately before finishing, his voice low and taunting.
“I hope, by then, you’ll still be as magnanimous as you pretend to be and take her in.”
“You won’t live to see that day,” Aaron’s voice cut in, ice–cold and laced with anger. “You really think I’d let you get away with that? Do you know how hard I’ve fought for this chance?”
With a sudden crackle, the recording cut off.
I sat there in stunned silence for a moment.
The absurdity of Nicolas‘ post, paired with that ridiculous headline, was beyond belief. The whole thing read like a poorly written farce.
I opened the comments section, and the moment I saw it, I nearly choked on air.
“Wait, seriously? Even someone as high–profile as Aaron Ford would get involved in someone else’s relationship?”
“Haha, this headline is killing me. “The Homewrecking Heir‘? Talk about on point. What a classic case of being the side guy.”
“Uh, not that this blogger seems all that reliable, but Aaron Ford definitely looks guilty of interfering in someone else’s love life.”
“Let’s not forget that the woman is his subordinate. If he’s abusing his position for this kind of nonsense, that’s seriously messed up.

The comments were full of baseless assumptions, wild speculation, and shameless embellishments. I scrolled

through them all, my frustration growing with each line.
But there was one thing that didn’t add up. How on earth did Nicolas, that worthless waste of space, manage to push this story so far up the trending list?
More importantly, Ford Enterprises was the leading corporation in Ashford. How could something like
