Chapter 15
Travis felt his body weakening, his vision blurring
Seeing her about to leave, he fought through the pain and lunged forward, grabbing her wrist.
The moment he touched her, he felt a long–lost sense of peace, but his strength failed him and he collapsed to the floor.
Nicole nearly fell from his pull but managed to catch her balance.
Turning, she saw hiin sprawled on the ground, three limbs on the floor while his right hand still gripped her wrist.
She frowned, trying to pry his fingers loose with her left hand.
But his grip wouldn’t budge.
Just as she took a deep breath to try again, rapid footsteps approached.
She turned to see Alexander striding toward them with long steps.
“Nicole, everyone’s waiting for you.”
Before he finished speaking, his sharp eyes caught Travis gripping Nicole’s wrist.
His dark eyes flashed coldly behind his glasses.
Moving quickly, he deliberately stepped on Travis’s left hand lying on the floor.
“Ah!”
With a low cry of pain, Travis reflexively released Nicole’s wrist, his already pale face turning white as paper.
Alexander glanced at him coldly. “Mr. Graham, before your divorce, I stayed out of your business with Nicole. But now, if you dare touch even a hair on her head, you’ll regret it.”
He took Nicole’s hand and strode away.
Between his stomach pain and crushed hand, Travis could barely speak. He stared at their joined hands with bloodshot eyes.
“Nicole, you betrayed me. I won’t let you get away with this!” he muttered under his breath.
Nicole, already walking away, had no idea of the twisted thoughts forming in Travis’s mind.
When she and Alexander returned to the dinner party, her colleagues‘ looks were quite telling
Some teasing, some probing, some knowing.
The man in dark–framed glasses casually adjusted his frames and asked loudly, “Miss Spencer, who was that man just now?”
At this question, almost everyone at the table turned to look at Nicole.
Nicole gave him a cool glance, picked up her wine glass, made a toasting gesture toward him, then drained it in
one go.
“Mr. Carpenter, that’s my personal matter, and I’m sorry you had to witness it. But I hope we can leave it at that, can we?”
Her response shifted everyone’s attention to Sam Carpenter

Chapter 15
After all, who didn’t have an ex these days? If Sam pressed further, he’d be crossing a line.
Under their stares, Sam adjusted his glasses and gave an awkward laugh. “Of course, of course. It’s Miss Spencer’s private business – I shouldn’t pry.”
Nicole’s lips curved slightly as she set down her glass. Just as she was about to sit, a commotion erupted behind her.
“Excuse us, please make way!”
Several people in white medical coats rushed into the Splendor Hotel carrying a stretcher.
Leading them was someone Nicole recognized – James, Travis’s personal assistant.
Moments later, when the stretcher emerged again, it carried a pale–faced man.
