Seeing Richard’s horrifying face appear in the hospital doonway, Helen instinctively shouted, “Nicole, run! Quickly run!”
After years of experiencing a man’s brutal behavior, she was determined to prevent her daughter Nicole from falling into this monster’s hands.
“Run? Run where? If you’re not remarrying Travis, you’re not going anywhere!” Richard blocked the door with his drunken body, resolute in preventing Nicole’s escape.
When he first learned that his abandoned daughter had married into the wealthy Graham family, Richard had. laughed triumphantly, believing he’d finally found a cash cow.
He knew that despite Nicole’s seemingly cold attitude toward Helen, she deeply cared about her mother’s well- being.
Whenever he called Nicole and let her know Helen was injured, she would obediently send him money.
This tactic had worked flawlessly for years.
But Richard was never satisfied.
The Graham family is worth billions, and you’re giving me just tens of thousands? Are you trying to brush me off like a beggar? I’m short on cash. Give me more money, or I go after your mother!”
Nicole scoffed, “I told you, I’ve divorced Travis. I have no money!”
Richard immediately exploded, “No money? Do you take me for a child? Even after divorce, you must have gotten some property settlement! At the very least, it would be several million!”
Looking at Richard, who seemed completely consumed by greed, Nicole slowly clenched her fists.
While other fathers were their daughters‘ support, hers was her nightmare.
After marrying Travis, Nicole had constantly feared he would discover her situation and become even more disgusted with her.
Thus, she had been forced to submit to Richard’s blackmail
Now, having divorced Travis, she would no longer compromise, ho matter how Richard threatened her.
Her only concern now was Helen.
Nicole moved closer to Helen’s bedside and coldly regarded Richard. “Millions? Do you think the Graham family are fools? Travis made a prenup before our marriage. I won’t receive a single penny–in our divorce.”
“Not a single penny? The Graham family is so rich, and they gave you nothing?” Richard asked in disbelief.
“Exactly. Not a single penny. So give up on getting money from me. From now on, don’t ask me for money again. I won’t give you anything!” Nicole’s attitude was resolute.
But after years of demanding money from Nicole, breaking Richard of this habit was now impossible.
Thinking about returning to a life of uncertainty, Richard’s gaze toward Nicole gradually filled with malevolence.
He slowly raised the alcohol bottle, taking deliberate steps toward Nicole, his expression horrifying and grotesque. “Call Travis right now and demand a 5 billion divorce settlement!”
Nicole didn’t hesitate for a moment in her refusal.

“Impossible. Can’t do it!”
“Call now! Or do you want me to beat you?” Richard raised the bottle halfway, poised to strike Nicole.
“No, please! Richard, spare Nicole. Hit me instead!” Helen watched the bottle suspended in mid–air, her heart nearly leaping from her chest.
Years with Richard had kept Helen’s nerves perpetually faut, like a string about to snap at any moment.
But the thought of Nicole gave her strength to survive.
If Richard killed Nicole, Helen would break completely, and she would fight with everything she had.
So despite her medicated left arm and her body trembling with fear, Helen used her right hand to prop herself up, twisting into an extreme position to shield Nicole.
Feeling Helen’s protection, Nicole’s nose burned with emotion. She spoke softly, “Don’t worry about me. I only want to ask: will you divorce Richard? If you agree today, I’ll take you away.”
“No!” Richard roared, his face turning red and neck bulging. As his words finished, a beer bottle went flying toward Nicole!
