The slap did nothing to awaken Keith. Instead, it seemed to deepen his resentment.
“Wanda, look, I know you and Astrid are close, and you’re defending her. But I taught her how to parachute. You know that!
“The situation was critical, and I had to take Chelle down first. It was the most reasonable decision. Why are you indulging her in this nonsense?”

“First, I absolutely did check the parachute. Second, she sent me a breakup message and mentioned a fire at home.”
Wanda scoffed. “It was the hot air balloon that caught fire! It even started a forest fire.
“There was a cliff below where she was flying. Just imagine how desperate Astrid must have been to jump with a child!”
Keith’s eyes widened in shock.
Michelle pouted, feigning innocence. “It’s all my fault. If only I could parachute…”
Her words further infuriated Wanda who slapped her hard across the face.
