Michelle covered her face, and Keith instinctively protected her.
“You need evidence to spread rumors like that, Wanda. Is it possible that Astrid conspired with you to target Chelle?
“I’ve said it before, Chelle and I are just good friends. She doesn’t need to be so petty about this whole thing. I’ll take responsibility for her and the baby.
“Chelle poses no threat to her so why must she be so aggressive?”
Michelle burst into tears, and Keith’s heart ached for her.
“Apologize to Chelle, Wanda.”
Michelle sobbed pitifully. “It’s all my fault. It’s understandable that Wanda blames me. I envy Astrid for having your support.”
Wanda looked at Michelle in disgust. She hated such pretentious women.
“What a cunning fox! What are you pretending for? When my brother had his accident and ended up in a wheelchair, you ran away as fast as you could. You never shared in his struggles.
“Now that he’s happy, you insert yourself into his life–don’t you have any shame?”
Keith tried to defend Michelle.
“Please choose your words carefully, Wanda. Chelle has heart issues, so she went abroad for treatment.”
“Treatment?” Wanda scoffed bitterly.
“She probably went to see some boyfriend there. Let me tell you when Astrid jumped, she clung tightly to that damaged parachute. She was absolutely wronged.
“Her body is in the morgue. If you don’t believe me, you can see for yourself.
“The police have already opened an investigation. Let’s hope neither of you is the suspect.”
At Wanda’s words, Michelle suddenly looked uneasy.
Despite everything, Keith still refused to accept that I was dead, or perhaps he simply didn’t want to believe it.
“Stop saying she’s dead. There are no suspects here, don’t scare Chelle.”
Michelle’s face turned pale with fear.
“Keith, my heart hurts so much.”
She looked like she was about to faint. Keith panicked and quickly grabbed a hold of her.
“I’ll take you to the hospital. Hang in there!”

Wanda muttered something about Michelle faking it and moved to stop her, but Keith, in a fit of worry, shoved her to the ground.
My mother helped Wanda up, and the two embraced, crying in anguish.
I felt a wave of guilt for my past obsession.
