James kept his head lowered and didn’t look at me at all.
I guessed that he wanted to divorce me as well.
That way, he could successfully become Brenda’s father and Nova’s husband. He could also be the official son–in- law of the Somerfield family.
However, I wasn’t going to let him get what he wanted.
“I’m sorry, but the divorce is a matter between me and James. It has nothing to do with anyone else.”
With that said, I turned on my heels to leave..
Jacob’s cursing sounded from behind as I left. “Look at her. She’s not grateful at all.”
“Don’t say that, Jacob. It’s not her fault that the nurses made a mistake at the hospital. Let’s not bring the divorce up again in the future. We can’t ruin her family because of Brenda.”
“How are you ruining her family?” Jacob was still mad. “James loves you, not her. I’m suggesting this for her own could. Instead of torturing each other, why can’t she give both of them a better time by getting a divorce? Am I right, James?”
I didn’t hear James’s reply.
At that moment, my chest was aching so much that I could barely stand.
I placed Laura on the ground and told her to walk by herself
Laura looked at me and asked with concern, “Mom, are you sick? Do you need me to take you to see a doctor?”
My body was cold, but when I heard Laura’s words, I immediately felt warm.
“I’m fine. How about we go to the theme park?”
“But I want to go home and get sleep, Mom.”
