I knew that Laura was worried about me, so I didn’t say anything else. We took a taxi and went back to the hotel.
However, lying on the bed, I wasn’t able to fall asleep at all.
Laura held a book in her hand and said, “Mom, how about I read you a story? It’ll make it easier for you to fall asleep.”
“Okay.” I closed my eyes and listened to Laura’s story.
She then began with a childish voice. “Once upon a time…”
As Laura continued with the story in her hand, she gradually fell asleep herself..
I looked at her dotingly, took the book from her gently, and tucked her in bed.
During the time that she was asleep, I went on my phone and started to look for a house to rent.
We couldn’t live in a hotel all the time.
Besides, I didn’t know how much time I had left. It wouldn’t be good if I passed out in a hotel room.
When Laura woke up, I took her to a real estate agency.

Chapter 6
The agent was a young girl. She had a round face and was really cheerful.
I asked her to see if there were any houses to let in the community I lived in.
I wanted to be closer to James so that Laura wouldn’t be lonely when I was dead.
“We do, Ms. Somerfield. I take you over to take a look now
“Thank you.”
We looked at around 5 places but I wasn’t satisfied with any of them.
The agent was very patient as well. When she heard my requirements, she said, “Oh, there’s one more in Building No. S. But the tenant will only move out next week.”
“Building No. 8? Which floor?” I asked.
“I think it’s on the 18th floor.”
My eyes lit up immediately. “Okay, we’ll take that.”
The house that James and I lived in was on the 18th floor in Building No. 8.
The agent was quite surprised. “Don’t you want to see the place first, Ms. Somerfield?”
“No, I believe you.”
The agent was very responsible. Even though I said “No“, she still insisted on taking me to see the house.
When we walked into the elevator, James was inside and Brenda was in his arms as well.
“I thought you were gone, evil woman. Why are you back again?” asked Brenda.
I didn’t want to argue with this ill–mannered child in front of outsiders, so I just ignored her.
The agent gave me a puzzled look, but she didn’t ask me anything else.
After getting off the elevator, the agent pointed at the house next door to mine and said, “This is the one, Ms. Somerfield. I’ve just asked and the tenant is at home right now. We can go in and take a look.”
James gave me a cold glare before opening the door and headed inside with Brenda.
I nodded at the agent calmly. “Okay, thank you.”
After taking a look around the house, I paid the deposit and went back to the hotel with Laura.
“Mom, does Dad not want us anymore?” asked Laura.
“No, honey. It’s us that doesn’t want Dad anymore.” I looked apologetically at Laura. “I’m sorry, darling. I haven’t been an eligible mom. I couldn’t give you a happy life and family.”
Laura wrapped her arms around my neck and tried to comfort me. “Mom, I’m very happy. I’m the luckiest child in the world as long as with you, Mom.”
After that, both of us began crying.
