The sun started rising, and the fog in the mountain where the church was located started rolling in. Thick bundles of clouds mingled with the fog and made the path up blurry
Melea and Solomon slowly walked up the stone path and headed to the church at the top of the mountain.
Not far away, they heard the church bells ring.
The church had a tall old tree, and the stone path was covered in moss. As the wind blew, leaves fell and let out crisp sounds. The bells that hung off the eaves trembled.
Melea sucked in a deep breath and sat on a stone bench in the corner while she watched Solomon look around like a curious child.
It should have been beautiful, but Samuel’s arrival ruined it
‘Seriously, he just refuses to leave me alone.‘ That was Melea’s first thought when she saw Samuel walk over to her.
“Melea, can we talk?”
Perhaps Martha’s words left an effect on him, because he knew that he had been too impatient.
Melea did not actually want to talk to him, but then she remembered that she was going back to Alsingard soon. What if he kept pestering her and chased after her?
It was better for them to make things clear between them using this chance.
So, she settled back down and raised an eyebrow. “Sure. What is it?”
A flash of delight rose in Samuel’s eyes. Just when he wanted to sit beside her, she got up and walked away.
“Melea!”
Melea only stopped when she arrived under a tree and watched as Samuel approached her.
“I don’t have much time, so just say what you need to.”
“I…” Samuel sucked in a deep breath and told her everything that he had wanted to say over the past half a year.
He said that he did not actually like Yelena and was actually just putting up an act to make Melea give up on him. He also said that he did not actually know that Yelena had hurt her. That was why he thought about saving Yelena first back then. After all, Yelena was his fiancee. He even said that he had not collected his marriage certificate with Yelena and that the baby was an accident. Martha was the one who wanted the baby, so he was going to chase Yelena out after she gave birth.
In short, he wanted her to return so things could go back to before.
For the first time, Melea sized Samuel up. He still looked the same, he seemed like a stranger to her.
