Chapter 10
It was early evening, and the workers were back. They were gathered in small groups, and were busy chatting at
the door.
When they heard Quinn’s shout, curiosity got the better of them, and they rushed into the house to see what was happening.
Sadie did not have time to fully dress before being caught in her compromising state, and she was exposed to everyone men, women, young, and old.
As I returned with groceries, I heard a shrill scream coming from the house.
Amid the roars of laughter, Sadie ran out of the house wrapped in a blanket. She brushed past me at the door, shooting me a venomous glare.

squeezed through the crowd and walked up to him.
Behind me, the dispersing onlookers were making comments about Sadie’s pale legs and figure. However, I was fully immersed in Quinn’s tenderness.

Rumors spread like wildfire. Within no time, the entire town was talking about Sadie’s humiliation.

My mother later told me that Sadie’s father had not held back, and the cane left scars on her face that likely would not heal.
Meanwhile, Quinn and I moved forward with our plans. I got into university in Brooksville to study literature, and Quinn was accepted into the same school to study computer science.
After graduation, Quinn stayed at the university for his doctoral studies, while I chose a promising position at a leading company.
In our first year post–graduation, we bought our first home–a comfortable four–bedroom apartment–and brought Quinn’s parents to live with us. The spacious place fit our growing family rather well. ^
Two years later, Quinn became a university lecturer. With our savings and before housing prices rose, we purchased a small second property.
During this time, I became pregnant. The pregnancy was a bit unstable, so I decided to take an extended leave to
