Caleb turned around. With a gloomy look in his eyes, he sal sternly, “Have you no shame, Mrs. Wells? Why are you troubling Evie now? Has your daughter not hurt her enough?
“If you keep this up, I won’t be funding Lydia’s treatments anymore! She owed Evie this much, and even if she died, she definitely deserved it!”
My mom sobbed as she shook her head. She was still crawling toward the urn with all her might. “Liddy is already dead, and the urn has Liddy’s ashes in it. I just want to take her home…”
I was heartbroken. At that moment, I longed to hug my mom and tell her, “Mom, please stop hurting yourself. It’s just an urn, anyway. Please stop breaking my heart.”
When Caleb saw my mom’s movements, he glanced at the urn.
With a dark look on his face, he scoffed and said, “She’s playing dead now, huh? And you’re playing along with her? What happens when I destroy your props, huh?”
In the next second, his expression shifted as he picked up the urn. Then, he flung it down the bridge.
My mom’s eyes widened. She hurriedly rushed over, but she could only watch as the urn fell straight down from several hundred yards high.
In that instant, everything seemed to have come to a standstill. My mom couldn’t hear a sound. As the urn crashed onto the ground, the image seemed to have split into frames, like that of a movie.
As soon as the urn made contact with the ground, it shattered into pieces.
Just then, some wind picked up and scattered the ashes all over the ground.
