Blood trickled down Caleb’s forehead, but he remained motionless as if he couldn’t feel pain at all.
My mom shouted, “How could you ask me where Liddy’s body is? Have you no shame? Why are you asking as if you didn’t throw her ashes away just like that? Was that not enough for you? What more are you going to do to her?

As the questions and accusations rained on Caleb’s heart, he was in so much pain that he could barely stand upright.
Licking his dry and cracked lips, Caleb asked in a strained voice, “Mrs. Wells… Were Lydia’s ashes really in that urn? You have to be lying, right? The doctor said that she’d be fine…”
Before he could finish speaking, Caleb instantly spotted the mockery in my mom’s eyes. His face immediately turned pale.
He looked pitiful and helpless as if my death was a huge hit to him.
Spitting at him, my mom shouted with a gloomy look in her eyes, “Get lost! Go away! You have no right to mention Lydia’s name! You murderer! It’s your fault! You killed my baby Liddy!”
Tears streamed out of the corners of Caleb’s eyes. He gripped his head in pain as he said shakily, “I’m sorry… I’m sorry, Mrs. Wells… I didn’t know… I didn’t know that was Liddy’s uri… I didn’t know she’d die because of this! She should be fine… She had to be…
“I didn’t mean to hurt her… I just… I just wanted her to compensate for the wrongs she had done in the past… Mrs. Wells, can you please give me a chance? I’ll make it up to you…”
When my mom heard his words, she stiffly turned around.
Then, she sneered. “Caleb, how pathetic can you be? Even now, you have no clue about the truth behind that incident so many years ago.”
