By the time they reacted, I had already pushed my way inside the room.
In the next moment, their legs shot out to block me.
“Wait…”
But Lloyd kicked them away, slamming the door shut.
The sound of the lock clicking into place echoed.
“Quick, block the door with all the furniture!”
Lloyd looked stunned but complied, moving swiftly.
Finally, after a series of hard bangs on the door, we had barricaded it as best as we could.
The people outside were relentless, but the door was sealed tight.

Chapter 10
I collapsed to the floor, drenched in sweat, my body trembling from cold, uncontrollable shivers running through
- me.
My teeth chattered violently.
I felt like I might just shake myself to death.
Lloyd wrapped me in a blanket, his hands gentle as he held me close.
“Are you cold? I’ll make you some hot water.”
A wave of nausea suddenly hit. I pushed him aside and collapsed over the toilet, throwing up.
There was nothing left in my stomach, but the dizziness kept me retching, as if I had to empty everything inside
- me.
Lloyd handed me a glass of warm water.
“Gargle,” he said softly.
I slumped against him, no longer caring about my dignity, and threw myself into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
“Thank you for saving me. Thank you for saving me. I was so scared, so scared!”
He gently patted my back. “It’s all right now. The sounds have stopped. They must have gone.”
Just then, the middle–aged policeman’s voice came through the phone.
“Hello? Where are you?”
“Hello? Have you arrived? Is it over? It’s quiet outside, but I’m not sure if they’ve left. Hurry up, hurry and catch them!”
The words rushed out with my tears.
“I’m here. Your boss is under control. The others will be caught soon. You’re safe now.”
A little while later, there was a knock on the door.
The middle–aged policeman stood there, looking worn and exhausted from his quick arrival.
“Are you all right?”
I shook my head. “No, it’s not all right. It was terrifying.”
He smiled. “Well, it’s their turn now.”
