Chapter 11
The security guard came and threw Hailey and her belongings out.
At that moment, Tom finally felt that the house had become much quieter.
He held the box of photos, gently touching the handwriting on them with his fingers.
Jane had been with the Howard family since she was little, and even her handwriting was something he had helped her practice, holding her little hand and guiding each stroke.
‘Jane, where are you now?‘
Tom held the box of photos like it was a precious treasure.
“Jane, where are you now?”
Jane woke up with a start from her dream.
Mrs. Westwood asked, “Why do you look so pale? Did you have a nightmare?”
Only then did Jane come back to her senses.
Today, Mr. and Mrs Westwood had taken her out for a meal and planned to introduce her to editor–in–chief of an overseas magazine.
However, he was delayed due to an urgent matter, and since Jane had been having trouble sleeping lately, she had fallen asleep on the couch.
“Jane, here.”
A clean, white hand handed her a tissue.
Jane paused for a moment before taking it. “Thank you, Sean.”
She wiped the sweat off her forehead, still a little lost in her dream.
Sean smiled and said, “It’s fine if you had a nightmare. When you wake up, all the scary things disappear. You have Mr. and Mrs Westwood here… and…”
Mrs Westwood chuckled and teased, “And what?”
Sean’s face turned slightly red. “And the weather’s nice, make the most of it.”
Seeing that Jane still looked a bit down, Mrs Westwood became concerned. “Jane, you don’t need to be too nervous. The editor–in–chief is a good person, very humorous, and he’s an old friend of Mr. Westwood. He has seen your photography work and was really impressed.‘
Jane nodded, “I know. I just dreamt about…”
“What did you dream about?”
“I dreamt about the past.”
“What’s scary about the past? Your brother has always pampered you, you should have sweet dreams.”
Jane wasn’t sure how to explain it.
It was Sean who helped her out of the awkward situation. “No one lives in a honey pot forever. Jane has her troubles too.”
