Chapter 18
Stetan glanced up at the question. For a moment, he almost believed Alyssa was standing before him.
“Lyssa! You’re back! You finally came back! I’ve been looking for you for so long, I searched all over Jeanshire and couldn’t find you…”
He immediately pulled the woman into his embrace. A few warm tears fell onto her clothes, making her shudder.
But in the next instant, Stefan realized something was wrong and snapped out of it. This woman’s scent was nothing like Alyssa’s.
She was not his Lyssa!
point where
Stefan roughly showed the woman away, pinning her forcefully onto the table. His large hand tightened around her neck, choking her to the point her face tumed red. With her eyes rolled back, she was barely conscious.
Still, the woman struggled desperately, trying to push away Stefan’s iron grip.
“Stel! Stop! You’re going to kill her!”
A few of Stefan’s friends quickly grabbed his hand, stopping his violent actions.
It was then that Stefan gradually came to his senses. As he pulled back his hand in disgust, he coldly glanced around the room. He made sure to remember who was there.
“It’s only been a while since I warned you all, but it seems that someone is eager to challenge me. In that case, we’re no longer friends.
“From now on, we’ll be rivals! If it weren’t for you, maybe I wouldn’t have done something that betrayed Lyssa,” Stefan hissed, leaving everyone present with a sinking feeling in their chests
Now, the Splenstone family was the dominant force in Jeanshire. Nothing good would come out of getting on Stefan’s bad side.
Everyone exchanged ardous glances, each more worried than the last
One man, enraged, slapped himself, wishing he had never done such foolish things.
One after another, the others followed, slapping themselves hard. They deeply regretted their actions.
If they had said nothing today, done nothing, and just accompanied Stefan in silence while he drank, they probably wouldn’t have ended up in this situation. If they hadn’t urged Stefan to get involved with another woman, this probably wouldn’t have happened.
But unfortunately, there were no “ifs” in life.
Stefan, intoxicated, returned to his cold, quiet home.
Some of the photos Alyssa had disposed of still had bacloups; he printed them out and placed them back in their original spots.
Some, though, had no backups, and they were lost forever.
Even though Stefan had tried so hard to make the house feel like it once did, it still felt different. Without Alyssa, the house had lost all its vitality.
Standing by the window, Sretan realized that he could see everything in the small garden clearly from this angle. It turned out that Alyssa had seen him kissing Juliette on the day she left.
As his heart twisted in pain, he pressed a hand hard against his chest, gasping for breath. But the pain only made him feel more awake.
He quickly called his assistant. “Ms. Zeal, have you found anything about Lyssa?”
“Mr. Splenstone. My apologies, but we couldn’t find anything,” Leann replied.
Hearing that, Stefan hung up the phone.
The result was still the same.
Stelan had sent a lot of people to search for Alyssa ever since she lett
However, Alyssa had deregistered her Identification, and even when she went to the airport that day, she used a temporary identity document. She had also bought several flight tickets, heading to various corners of the world,
Although the Splenstone family was influential and powerful, their influence abroad was weak. It was near impossible for them to find Alyssa. Having her identity deregistered was equivalent to her disappearing from the world. It also meant her marriage to him was no longer valid.
