Chapter 23
Stefan was ridden with guilt. If he could go back, he would certainly stay true to his heart,
Unfortunately, life didn’t offer second chances.
Standing on an unfamiliar street, he felt as lost and helpless as a child.
Should he keep searching?
The answer was undoubtedly yes. But where should he start?
“Excuse me, the woman in the photo is my wife. We hall an argument, and we got separated. I’m looking for her. Could you please provide me with her contact information?” Stefan asked earnestly.
The hotel receptionist hesitated for a long time. It wasn’t until Stefan pulled out a large sum of money that the receptionist smiled widely and quickly handed over Alyssa’s contact details
Stefan made the call, but it went unanswered for a long time.
she’s probably still on the plane,” he reassured himself.
In an effort to prove his genuine remorse to Alyssa, he posted an open letter of apology online.
Each word was a detailed account of how he had gone astray. He also wrote about how he had come to realize his wrongdoings and understood the depth
of his mistakes.
The apology was heartfelt, and almost every day he would post a new letter, hoping that Alyssa would see it
Some of the online commenters, who initially hated him, began to feel pity for him. Some even started to support Stefan.
But when Alyssa saw the letters of apology, she found them somewhat laughable.
“Would he admit to his wrongdoings if I hadn’t left? No. He may become even more reckless. It started with just Juliette, but he will eventually end up getting involved with more women. Cheating either never happens or will happen endlessly,” she muttered to herself
Why should she forgive Stefan? Wasn’t it better this way?
Alyssa had already achieved the dreams she once couldn’t.
She opened a bed and breakfast by the sea, took care of a few pets, occasionally met interesting new friends, and sometimes did nothing. She only stayed at home, drawing the landscapes she had seen.
After leaving Stefan, Alyssa found that her health had improved significantly. During her checkups, doctors often praised her for taking good care of herself
She closed her eyes, no longer paying attention to the gossip online
Alyssa knew exactly what she wanted. She had worked hard to leave, she would never return to her past life.
As the plane landed, a familiar phone number appeared on Alyssa’s screen right when she turned off airplane mode. It was a call from Stefan.
Without hesitation, she hung up and blocked the number.
But that wasn’t enough.
Stefan was persistent. He would simply call Alyssa from another number whenever she blocked him. Even back then, his persistence showed in how he confessed and proposed to her multiple times.
Countless calls flooded in, but Alyssa felt nothing but irritation,
What was he trying to prove with this regret now?
When she had loved him, his persistence and determination had moved her. But now that she was no longer in love, those same qualities felt like flaws They didn’t touch her anymore.
Alter hanging up countless times, Alyssa finally snapped and answered the call. “Stefan, we are completely done. I don’t love you anymore.”
Her decisive words immediately cut off all apologies from the other end of the line.
Stefan fell into a frantic silence, his lips trembling as he struggled to find his words.
Though she had just rejected him, he was so overwhelmed that he almost cried. It had been so long since he had heard her voice. He only felt alive when he saw the latest photos of her sent by the online community,
Now, hearing her voice, he was so overcome with enations that he could barely speak
