Fuck! I totally forgot. Standing outside her apartment, I remembered that me and it had completely got out of my mind,

I was hoping that Freya would call at some point and she did finally. I smiled to myself, picking up but every trace of amusement was wiped right off when I heard her voice.
“Hey, uhm…it’s probably not a good time but I uh..” I had this feeling or two. “Actually it’s nothing. I’ll call you-”

“I was thinking maybe you could pick us up. Gia’s with me and I didn’t know who else to call” She choked on her last words and my dreadful feeling escalated.
I had picked up the car keys and was already getting into the elevator. “Where are you?”
“Meringue.” She whispered.
“I’ll be there.” I managed to keep my voice calm, even though I was everything but. I don’t remember the last time anything had me this unsettled. I always was able to keep my head straight in challenging situations.
This was different. A thousand possibilities clogged my mind. I was fucking worried and just hoped that Freya could keep herself and our daughter safe till I reached her,
I didn’t give a fuck about the safety rules and speed limits as I drove to her cafe, Turning the street, I located them. Sitting on a bench outside the cafe.
The street was almost empty and I mentally flinched at the kind of dangers they could land in. Gia was huddled close to Freya and both were safe.
But the sweet relief I felt vanished in thin air with every step I took in their direction. The muscles in my shoulder stiffened as I caught a closer look at Freya.
Blood unrared on the side of her head. She was fucking injured My pulse sped up.
Both of them had noticed me. Gia pulled out of her hold and came to me. Picking her up, I checked for injuries

She had none. I was relieved at the observation but that didn’t last a second. My eyes darted back to Freya. She had a nasty cut on her forehead
I wasn’t squeamish at the sight of blood but still my stomach churned, at the sight of Freya hurt. My heart shudded thinking of what might have happened that had led to this.
“Who did this?” I was fighting to keep the rage off my voice but some of it might have bled through Gia tightened her hold around my neck and sniffed into my shoulder, the sound sending a direct hit into my heart

Freya stared at me, lips pressed together. She was fighting off the tears. Her silence was enough.
“see” I muttered, trying to think past the murderous rage I felt. Some things needed immediate attention. “Let’s get you to the hospital.”
She stared at my outstretched hand for a second longer before taking it. I guided her to the passenger side of my car. She sented in laps. I hadn’t remembered to get the car seat while leaving in a hurry
