I had been two hours since Aiden had left. I had been anxious ever since. He had been off to deliver punishment which could mean a lot of things.
At first I definitely didn’t want this. Not sure I still wanted this, I had never been comfortable with revenge. But then after Aiden brought up Gia L condidn’t possibly argue with that.
I looked down at my little girl who stirred lightly. She had slept in. It was almost twelve but I hadn’t woken her up. She probably needed that long. sleep.
Gia stirred again this time peeling her eyes open. “Mommy.” She drawled, greeting me with a gummy smile. That hit right in the chest, bringing out a smile of my own. Aiden was right. There wasn’t any limit I wouldn’t cross to protect Hut smile.
The thought however didn’t even leave my mind before the smile vanished from her face. Her lips quivered before she wrapped her arms around my middle and pushed her face in my stomach.
“sweetie?” I rubbed her back in a comforting manner while she sobbed, pressed against me.
“I was so scared. Mommy! He hurt you.” The words came out muilled but I heard them all the same. My heart clenched at the pain in her voice.
“Oh baby. Mommy is fine now.” I pulled Cia up to a sitting position while she wiped at her tears. I gently touched her cheek. “Hey, look at me.” She dad her bottom lip wobbling
“Doctor made it all better, didn’t he?” She glanced at the wound but wasn’t entirely convinced. Her tiny hand reached out to touch the bandage

“We won’t. Never again.” I meant it. That was enough I couldn’t afford to make any more bad decisions with Gia. She was the most precious thing that happened to me. Even though she didn’t blame me. I did and I would have to redeem myself by doing right by her
“Where are we?” She sounded confused like she only now realized that we aren’t in a familiar bedroom.
“Aiden brought us to his home.” She turned around before going back to take a proper look at the mom.

Walking towards the kitchen, I saw a man in there, moving around the kitchen expertly as if he knew the place like the back of his hand. He was probably in his late fifties, his hair had streaks of grey
