Chapter 40
AIDEN
The door to Freya’s room was half closed. I knocked at it but there was no response. I walked inside only to find it empty. Just then she stepped out of the bathroom clad in nothing but a white towel.
Fuck mell
Water dripped down her hair and along the collar bone. My cock definitely liked the visual considering how it strained against my slacks, I realized that it may not have been a good time to come here because for the rest of the day I would have to walk around with this image of Freya in my mind. Yep. That would no doubt be a painfully long day,
“OH, oh my
my God!” Freya looked startled once her eyes landed on me.
- nr. “What are
are you doing here?”
“We have to talk. The note of calm in my voice was commendable even though my self–control was hanging by a thread. It was taking every ounce of power in me to not yank the towel away and fuck her against the wall
“Okay, give me a minute.” She grabbed the dress that was lying on the bed and sprinted back into the bathroom. I. on the other hand, spent that time trying to think of everything- anything that would pull my mind away from Freya’s very long, very toned legs
“Okay. Tell me.” She had stepped out in a pale blue sundress which really complimented her delicate form. Fresh out of the shower was the look 1 liked the most on Freya, I decided.
Looking at her anticipative face, I realized that now was not the time. It took me a second to actually remember what I was here for. Gia. Right.
“I was thinking maybe it’s time we tell Gia the truth.”
Freya blinked, seemingly not expecting this topic.
“We should.” She agreed, a swallow working its way down her throat. “It’s already way too late as it is”
“When should we tell her?
after she comes back from school!” I thought I heard a note of underlying nervousness. Or was hesitation? It couldn’t be. She was the one who had asked days ago to disclose everything to our daughter.
“I pick her up.”
She nodded“Okay. I’ll be back by then.”
“Okay.” I could tell there was something bothering her as I watched her for the obvious signs. Fidgeting with her fingers, a pinched smile.
I stepped closer while keeping an eye on her face. “What’s wrong?”
“Huh!” She looked startled. “Nothing Why would you say that?”
What is it
“I can tell when you lie. What is it?”
tact
She nervously licked her lips while I patiently waited for her to start talking. “Just a little worried that she might–uh. hate me for what I have done. Or maybe hate’s a strong word and I- I mean she had asked about her dad quite a few times, so…” She trailed off with a humorless chuckle.
1 gently grabbed her by her upper arms. “Look at met
She did. She looked up but honestly, I wasn’t prepared for the amount of vulnerability that shone for her eyes. It hit me straight in the chest and 1 realized how much it actually tormented her. She still was beating herself over her past decisions.
“Gia won’t hate you. I promise.” She looked in my eyes silently, uncertainty dancing in hers. My right hand reached up to tuck away a strand of hair from her face. I held her face and looked right back into her eyes. “We will tell her only what she will understand. I know she loves you more than anything and I would not for my life want to damage the bond you two have. So stop worrying your head” She let out a shaky breath before nodding. She looked calmer than seconds ago but I knew that my words were not able to take away her fear. She was afraid that she would lose Gia.
“Or we can wait a little longer.” I didn’t want to. All these years and now 1 didn’t want to wait any longer, But I could. If that would put Freya at ease and help her come to terms with everything. I would wait.
“No! No. We don’t have to do that. We should tell her. It’s time.”
“You sure?”

Chapter 40
“Yeah.” I gauged her face for her reaction. She still looked nervous but also she seemed ready. Actually ready.
“Okay.” I smiled.
FREYA
“Mommy!” Gia’s happy squeal filled the hall as she burst through the front door. She discarded her school bag on the couch before lunging at me. Aiden walked in right behind her. His eyes were warm as it glided over our daughter.
“Hi sweetie, how was school?” I pulled out the hairband and ran my fingers through the curls Gia loved when I did that.
“Verry boring!” She drawled dramatically, making me chuckle.
“Yeah? But you seem awfully excited for a boring day at school.”
Her face split in a happy grin. “Because we got ice cream!”
“You did!” I raised a brow in mock surprise,
“Yeah! Alden liked the bubblegum ice cream.”
“And
you
didn’t get me any?
Her face immediately clouded over with guilt. She sat up beside me. “Mommy, are you sad? I’ll give you my Maltesers.”
I chuckled, ruffling her hair. “No baby. I’m not sad. I was just joking
“Really!”
“Yeah.” That put her at ease as she leaned back against the couch. My eyes flicked up to Rylan who was sitting on an ottoman. He knew why I looked at him, for a push. And he did that, he gave a single reassuring nod.
“Cia, we need to tell you something
“Are we genting another pupp
Alden chuckled while I blurted out an immediate “No!“. As if two puppies peeing all over the house wasn’t enough to spike Carlos‘ blood pressure.
She pouted. “Then?”
I exhaled. Shit. I was doing this. Okay.
“So you have asked me about your father before, remember? You want your father to be here with you, don’t you?”
She blinked, surprised by the abrupt question. Of course she would be surprised. I had made it like this, I had made the situation messy,
Gia took a few seconds to nod. “I do. Ana’s dad took her to Disneyland. I want to go to Disneyland with my Daddy and dress up like Elsa.” Her lower lip jutted out and I could see those doe eyes moistening. Her next words were barely clear, “But I don’t know my Daddy”
I rubbed her arm in a comforting manner. “What if I told you that you do know your Daddy, Sweetheart?” Once again I found myself looking up at Aiden. His eyes held mine and a sense of calm and surety washed over me. When I spoke again, 1 meant those words. “And he loves you so much.”
Gu’s eyes flicked between me and Aiden a few times before she blurted out.
“Is Aiden my Daddy?”
