Chapter 49
AIDEN
The flashes, the insane amount of paparazzi that’s the first thing we noticed on reaching. I looked at Freya to find her staring a little wide–eyed at the entrance. Red carpet and shit. Can be overwhelming for the first time,
“You okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. I just didn’t think it would be this big. Why so many paparazzi?” She asked, still staring at them.
“Well it’s a bigideal. There are going to be lots of important people, businesseren and politicians. That’s why I was here. It was an excellent opportunity for networking. In fact there were going to be some people I needed to talk to. It that hadn’t been the case I would’ve changed our plans the moment Freya had walked out of that roman kusking like a literal goddess.
“Are you ready to go?” 1 asked, making sure she was actually comfortable with this. If she wasn’t, I could just ask Chris to drive us back home. Maybe that wasn’t a bad idea at all I would have Freya all to myself and I could-
“Yes. Let’s get it over with.” She muttered, a hint of nerves in her expression and I had to try very hard to not let my disappointment show. I got out of the car and opened her door, holding out a hand for her. Freya took in, smiling up at me. I couldn’t help but return the simile, almost as if it was infections
“We are stopping for pictures?” She asked when we stopped in front of the cameras. I normally hardly ever stood for the camera but today she was with me and I wanted to show her off Everyone needed to know she is offlimits.
“Just a few, Need to tell the world that this beautiful woman right here is all mine.” I hear Freya shakily inhale while looking up at me. The tinge of pink on her checks was adorable.
“Smile, baby,” I whisper in her ear. We waited for a few photos before I was guiding her in. Once we stepped in, it’s a whole different world. Crystal chandeliers, elaborate tapestries and every corner of the ballroom filled with high–profile guests in shiny couture gowns and tailored tuxedos.
“Shit! This is am I under–dressed?” Freya’s wide alarmed eyes stared at me. “I look under–dressed”
I couldn’t see why she would think that. She wasn’t underdressed. She was perfect. Others were just overdressed.
I touch a loose curl of hair falling on her face and trace it. “You look absolutely ravishing. You’re easily the most gorgeous woman under this whole roof. I can bet my fortune on it.”
It wasn’t just me trying to ease her nerves. It was every bit as true as my ever growing obsession with her. She was beautiful Too beautiful And having her this close to me wasn’t enough. If I were to let my compulsive thoughts win, I would lock myself up in a penthouse with her forever where no one could ever look at her
Freya gaped at me before lightly shaking her head. She was trying and failing to hide the blush that warmed her cheeks. “You are well on your way to earn that kiss”
I was having a hard time looking away from the delicate curl of her lips when a familiar voice rang out,

“Will I responded. William Henderson, the owner of an e–commerce company that made into Fortune 500 top 10 list this year. Well I was on third but coming back to Will, he was just about as white as he sounded with his love for golf and a spoiled orange cat. But he was a good man, well as good as they come in this field.

“She’s my girlfriend. Freya Wilson I wrapped an arm around her waist and she leaned some of her body weight on me.
I had never been to a polilar event of importance with a woman before except for the two times when Erica accompanied me. I was sure this was going to be in the news the morning after and people were going to be curious about who the woman in my arms was but who fucking cared. The only thing I would have to ensure is that from now on Freya took Chris with her everywhere she will.

Something was definitely wrong. I had seen this look on her face. Freya was purposefully avoiding my eyes. She did that whenever she was overwhelmed with something. Her emotions were all over her face,

“Don’t. Stay here, do your thing. 11l be fine” 1 would much rather go with her and learn what’s troubling her instead of listening to Will Bust 1 figured she needed a moment alone to herself. So I let it go, for the moment…
