Chapter 55
FREYA
Reyna made a choked sound before squealing “This is good Jesus! This is some romance fiction level stuff.”
Her coffee had gone cold, the sandwich long forgotten while she lapped up my latest life updates like it was some, like she said, romance novel.
My mind had been really busy today trying to digest what had happened last night. It kept flashing in front of my eyes every now and then. Almost like I was a teenager who had had sex for the first time.
“Oh to be in love!” Avery sighed dreamily from where she was replacing the empty tray of raspberry scones with a loaded one.
It’s not “I sucked a breath. “We’re not in love.” I sounded so defensive even to my own years that I would understand if Avery didn’t believe me
“sure, honey” She had a knowing smile on her face. But it was true. We weren’t in love or anything. What we had was very very new. We were besting the waters I think, I wasn’t sure. I was scared to get my hopes high.
My mind traveled back to the night after that monumental dinner. Aiden’s words, they had sounded genuine, tortured even. Like not being able to say those for all this time had been physically paining him. Still I was scared to put too much faith in my love life. It had let me down quite a number of times in the past.
“God! How did your life get so exciting!” Reyna’s excited drawl brought me back from my thoughts, Smiling, I shook my head at her dreamy expression
I was a Sunday and she was at Meringue for our weekly meet–up. Well we had missed a few Sundays lately and she wasn’t happy about it. So today since the moment Rrynu stepped in through those doors, I was not allowed to work at all
Avery was happy to take over for me. This woman worked so selflessly that I often felt that no salary could truly compensate her. It was a slow day today which allowed Avery to join us for lunch.
sure you don’t want a fresh coffee?”
Reyma completely disregarded my question, firing her own. “So how is he? Is he good? Is he, like big? He looks like he would be.”
I groaned “Okay, enough with it.”
Reyna had demanded I tell her ‘what had been keeping me so busy that I didn’t have for her. Yes, she was dramatic like that. So I brought her up to date on everything that has been happening lately.
I told her about my new business venture with Connor, the less than amiable family dinner at the Knights and Aiden’s confession. Since then she hadn’t stopped gushing about Aiden.
That brought m
me to think about the morning. I knew he didn’t work on Sundays. So when he left in a hurry this morning. I was feeling a little dejected. He hadn’t even explained much. Just said he had “some work to do. I was hoping that wasn’t a code for ‘I’m avoiding you
Not that something happened that would make him avoid me. Nope. I was just being paranoid. He probably really
ally had some important work. “Oh please: You have got to give some details.” Reyna whined. “You are fucking a man who looks like he’s walked out of a GQ magazine photoshoot. He is richer than the royals of England and oht He’s been obsessed with you for years. You’re practically living the American dream.”
I playfully rolled
my eyes at her and was about to bite into m bouquet of pank pronies.
my sandwich when a delivery guy walked in through the doors. He was holding a
“Delivery for Freya Wilon
“And he sends you flowers while you’re working” Rey observed, staring at one with raised brow. She looked impressed to say the least. Well, so was I,
It was really really sweet of him. All worries about the morning few right out of the window as I went to get the delivery.
Avery siglas blissfully as I make it back to the table with the bouquet in hand. The sweet fragrance filled my nostrils. It had a note.
-Aarden
stop thinking about you, Swerilir
I couldn’t help the blush that rose to my face but I hardly had a few seconds to read the note before Reyna plucked it right out of my hand. She

mid at the back of the throat and showed the note to Avery who let out a soli “aww”
Net Disjealous!” Reyna trusted the note in my hand
Avery sighed blissfully, again. “I need to get out there and fund a man who will send me flowers”
“Weah me too. Although on a lathe less ambitions. You know what? I will settle for just a hot fork. My Lady Jane hasn’t had a visitor in montia.”
I raised a questioning brow at her. It was very unlikely for her to not have sex in months
“What happened to be that g
guy from Conscott
She made a face: “He likes ketchup with his pizza”
Avery isked, agreeing with her that the point made the guy less appealing, Well it did to some extent but still…..
“Well, does his dick work?”
Key takes a moment to look at me before throwing in another reason like it was an ultimate argument. “He lives with his Mama and his Mama pays
( was actually. I scrunched my nose. “Okay, case closed”
“Yeah” She snorted and looked down at the flowers before her eyes gleamed with excitement.
“You mentioned Aiden has a brother? Is he good–looking?” So this was her brilliant idea. She wanted me to set her up with Cillian because she liked Aaden But you can’t know another by seeing one. They were completely different, polar opposite of I might say. Besides… Cillian, at the party, it seemed he was into Erica or probably he wanted to kill her, one couldn’t tell. But there was definitely something there.
“Yeah But I think he has something going on with Erica, I’m not sure though.”
“Too bad” Rey sighed going back to her croissant.
Was I supposed to call Aiden and say thank you! For the flowers! I mean that should be the right thing to do. How do people respond when they receive flowers Fuck. Had I ever received flowers from anyone since my senior prom? Nope. I inwardly groaned when my memory answered it for me. This was just plain sad.
I had dated many people in between, hadn’t I? I guess the bar here was really low for Aiden.
*1 should call him and thank him for the flowers” I wonder aloud.
Reyna shrugs. “Or you could show up at his office and give him a blowjobs. To guys nothing quite says ‘thank you‘ like a blowjob.”
I blink at her suggestion, my checks flaming She chuckled at my incredulous expression.
What We should turn the love.”
Thanks Really Good advice.” I say, sarcastically to which she just waves a hand in dismissal.
“Anytime
