Chapter 12
The tenth diary of farewell to the world.
April 5, 2024.
Celeste held up the phone and rolled her eyes at me, who had put on the special clothes to support Bernard again.
She complained, “The song was written for Sierra, and netizens say it’s their love song. Are you rushing to be hurt?”
I put my hand on the car window, supporting my cheek. “Today’s award is the most prestigious in the industry. It is a recognition of him, and I must definitely attend his shining moment.
“And now his girlfriend is Sierra. Of course, he wrote love songs for Sierra rather than me, the gold–digger who abandoned him.”
When there was some distance to the scene of the award ceremony, there were already traffic jams.
Watching the increasing crowd, I couldn’t catch up and suggested walking there.
Celeste became emotional and said, “Are you crazy? It’s still three kilometers away from the venue. It will take at least half an hour to walk there. I have no problem with that, but do you remember that you are a patient?”
I didn’t give Celeste the right to refuse and got out of the car directly.
I lowered my head and rolled up my pants, making a sprinting position. “Not walking but running!”
Without waiting for her response, I had already rushed out.
The ceremony was about to start in less than 20 minutes.
I couldn’t participate in any important moments of Bernard’s life after I died.
In the final time of my life, I wanted to seize every opportunity to witness the success of my loved one.
The stagnant traffic was left behind by me, car after car, with Celeste’s urgent shouts behind me.
The longer I ran, the more I could feel my lungs burning.
My body was protesting, urging me to stop this crazy action.
But I couldn’t care about so much anymore.
Finally, I saw the venue building.
There was a photo of Bernard on the big screen.
Banners were spread one by one.
“‘Eternal Love‘ continuously topped the download charts both domestically and internationally.”
“The ultimate romance from the tech tycoon to his loved one.”
I glanced at the time. “I came in time,”
The young man who was full of spirit back then finally realized his dream.
I smiled proudly. This was my beloved man.
Celeste finally caught up with me.
She was panting heavily, with her hands resting on her knees, unable to straighten her back for a long time.
Seeing me stare at the poster blankly, she sneered, “It was obviously photoshopped.”
Watching her childish and indignant behavior, I smiled and shook my head.
At that moment, music suddenly started playing outside the venue.
I heard the familier lyrics. “At the first glance around the corner, I met your face, only to discover the beauty of the world emerging. I love you not just for your smiling face.”
“It sounds terrible.”
I smiled and said, “No. It sounds really good.”

Celeste grunted, “You’re love–struck.”
“Alright, the time has come. Let’s go in quickly.”
I pulled Celeste and walked towards the entrance.
Just as I took a step forward, suddenly everything in front of me went black, and I fell to the ground.
When I woke up, I was already lying in a hospital bed.
The familiar smell of disinfectant made me feel nauseous.
I missed the last chance.
I lay there numb.
Celeste turned on the television and found the replay of the award ceremony.
A match made in heaven. This was the host’s description of Bernard and Sierra.
Bernard and Sierra stood hand in hand on the stage.
“Today, I’m surprised to get this award, and I would like to thank someone for abandoning me for being poor. Without her betrayal, I would not have met such a wonderful woman like Sierra. I love Sierra very much.”
Sierra blushed.
The audience cheered loudly.
I closed my eyes and said, “I’m so tired, Celeste. I wanna sleep.”
I felt that my body had reached its limit.
Celeste was completely unaware of that and, when she went out, she thoughtfully closed the door for me.
On such a sunny afternoon, I died.
At the end of the video, Celeste went to the government office and got a death certificate for me.
She walked out of the government office and immediately sat down on the street. Disregarding the gaze of passersby, she started to sob loudly.
“What should I do? I will never see Elisa again. I lost my best friend.”
The recovery diary named by Elisa reached its final chapter.
Celeste sat in the audience, already crying uncontrollably.
