Chapter 5
The next morning, the prearranged buyer came to view the house.
They looked around and were very satisfied, plus I didn’t ask for much.
The contract was signed on the same day, and once the transfer is completed in these few days, everything will be settled. When the buyer was leaving, they coincidentally crossed paths with Malcolm, who had just returned.
He looked at us with a strange expression in his eyes, without saying a word. Ashley, who was standing beside him, exaggeratedly covered her mouth.
“Was Valerie preparing a surprise for Malcolm? Did we come at the wrong time?”
I looked at him blankly, what surprise?
It was not until Malcolm’s face turned from pale to purple that I dimly remembered, today was his birthday.
Malcolm snorted coldly, thinking that I was just putting on an act.
After seeing off the guests, I went back inside the house.
The two of them changed their clothes, and Ashley was wearing the dress I wore when we got engaged.
She saw me and blinked her eyes, saying, “Valerie wouldn’t mind, right?”
Malcolm pulled her directly and said, “She can’t wear it anymore, don’t mind her. Besides, you look much better than her.”
Halfway through, Malcolm stopped and stared at me, “Aren’t you coming with us?”
In the past, on his birthday, I would always be by his side, taking care of all his emotions.
I also had to endure his boundary–less behavior with Ashley.
But now, I smiled and said, “I’m not going anymore. Have fun!”
Malcolm visibly paused, and then a suppressed anger surged through his body.
He grabbed Ashley and pulled her outside, saying, “You’re just pretending again. I’m sure you’ll cause trouble when I come back.”
The room returned to calmness once again.
I started packing my luggage, and Malcolm didn’t come back all night.
The WhatsApp group he formed with his childhood friends was bustling like a pot that had exploded.
Someone even posted a photo of Malcolm and Ashley sharing a drink mouth to mouth.
The two of them were wearing the engagement dresses we had when we got engaged, and they raised their glasses to drink the toast.
Malcolm’s friends also began cracking jokes one after another.
“Malcolm is still the best, having multiple wives!”
“His wife and mistress, Malcolm enjoyed the best of both worlds.”
Some people also noticed something was not right and spoke up.
“Valerie is also here, everyone be careful, the joke went a bit too far.”
It was mentioned that I was not sensible if I didn’t speak up.
I typed calmly, “I and Malcolm’s wedding is canceled. I wish you both a happy marriage and early children.”
After the fight, I left the group.
I completely left here, pulling the suitcase.
