Chapter 4
The third farewell diary to the world.
Today was November 27th, 2023.
The weather became colder, and it started snowing outside the window.
The usually bustling amusement park was also devoid of people.
I secretly took my phone and went out by myself to the slide.
I held up my phone and spoke while walking.
“No one would believe it if I said this, but I have never been to an amusement park before.
“I really wanna go to Wonderland once. I heard that the fireworks there were very beautiful.
“Unfortunately, it’s too far away. I probably won’t have a chance anymore.”
The slide was also covered in snow.
I picked up a nearby branch and was poking the snow when suddenly a child appeared.
“So, adults also like to play on the slide.”
I was startled and turned the camera towards the child.
His eyes were pure and flawless.
“Can’t adults play on the slide?”
He pondered.
“Yes, but why didn’t you wait for the snow to stop before coming?”
“I can’t wait for so long.”
The snow wouldn’t stop until spring, but I didn’t have that much time.
The child was puzzled and continued to ask, “Why? It will stop very soon.”
I smiled bitterly, but I was also about to die soon.
After I had poked off all the snow, I sat on the slide.
I asked the little boy to help me hold the phone and take a video of me.
The children’s slide was so short that it only took a moment to slide to the bottom, just like the remaining of my life.
I cheered in front of the camera as if I were on an exhilarating rainbow slide on a vast plain.
Only I knew that I was trying to make up for something.
Bernard didn’t take me to the amusement park, so I went by myself. I could die with no regret.
The snow water was bone–chilling when it touched the body.
That night, I caught a cold.
After Celeste found out, she grabbed my ear and scolded me for nearly two hours.
“Don’t you know that you are a patient now?
“You went out to play on the slide with a kid. Take this fever–reducing medicine, quickly go to bed, and cover yourself with a blanket to sweat it out!”
I roughed and laughed as I took the medicine.
As soon as she left, my smile disappeared from my face. I placed my phone on the table, gasping heavily.
Trembling, I took a few breaths of oxygen before finally smiling at the camera.
“Sorry, recently I have trouble breathing more and more often…
“Actually, I used to be really resistant to the cold.
Chapter 4
“Once I feel better, I will go and participate in winter swimming!”
I also added the boy on WhatsApp. He had a phone watch.
He sent me a message, “Elisa, wait until the snow melts next year, and then I will play on the slide with you.”
I forced a smile and replied, “Okay.”
I hoped to have the opportunity.
