Chapter 5
The fourth farewell diary to the world.
On February 9, 2024.
“We’ll go home today.”
I held my phone and sat in the car, happily taking pictures of the scenery outside the window.
Occasionally, I would pat Celeste beside me.
When it was time to get out of the car, the smile on my face became stiff.
Because at this time, I could no longer walk.
I was supported by Celeste and sat in the wheelchair.
Seeing the sadness on her face, I suggested racing with her.
I handed her the phone and then wheeled myself ahead of her.
I turned back and said, “Come on. Chase me! I’m four–wheel drive now, definitely faster than your two legs.”
Celeste ran after me with a phone in her hand, but in the end, I reached the rental house first.
I looked at her discontentedly. “Dear Celeste, can you please act a little more convincingly? You actually said you had altitude sickness and couldn’t run. That’s a huge exaggeration.”
Celeste smiled and said nothing.
We didn’t have much money left.
The two bowls of pasta with eggs were the best thing we could eat now.
Fireworks were constantly booming outside the window.
We cuddled up to each other and chatted in the light at night.
“Celeste, do you still remember the scene of our first meeting?”
“Yes, back then you had a runny nose, and you were the dirtiest child in the orphanage,” Celeste laughed.
“How come you only remember this, but not my heroic act of helping you? Why don’t you mention that?”
“You’re so cheeky. Bernard was clearly just squatting down to pick up something.
“You said that he lifted my skirt.
“Then you two had a fight, and in the end, we were all punished and couldn’t have dinner.”
When it came to the first encounter with Bernard, there was a hint of confusion on my face.
Time flew. We had known each other for 19 years already.
At this moment, the clock struck midnight.
I had a premonition and stared at Celeste fixedly for a while before finally saying, “This is the 20th year since we first met.”
“Yes, Elisa We’ll live for many more years, and you must stay with me,”
“Cleary”
1 suddy felt my eyelids become heavy.
I slowly rested my head on her shoulder and closed my eyes.
