Later. I couldn’t bear to leave Adam, so even though Grandpa and Grandma repeatedly said they missed me, I didn’t agree to go.
“I’m glad you’ve figured it out, I’m glad you’ve figured it out…”
My adoptive father became agitated, but then he realized something was wrong.
“Rozella, your ears…”
“Yeah, I can hear now.”
After a brief exchange. I hung up the phone.
My adoptive father booked a flight for me, and it happened to be on the day of the wedding.
Looking at the dozens of messages sent by my adoptive parents, my nose tingled.
All these years, I had refused to reunite with my adoptive parents and grandparents for someone like Adam. I was really so foolish.
It wasn’t until late at night that Adam finally returned.
He climbed into bed, carrying a cold air and the scent of strong perfume.
Since my parents passed away, I’ve felt especially insecure.
Only in lus arms could I sleep peacefully.
But tonight, I avoided the arm he habitually stretched over to me, and surprisingly, I had a peaceful night’s sleep.
The next morning, as soon as I woke up. I saw that black lace lingerie in the laundry basket, the one I had never
Thinking of their conversation last right. I threw w lingerie into the trash.
1 wastet sure if it was my attitude last night that made Adam more alert.
After not having dinner with me for half a year, he unexpectedly cooked breakfast himself.
Chapter 2
Looking at the seafood porridge on the table, I pushed it aside and silently checked the process for getting a visa.
Adam’s phone kept vibrating with messages.
In the voice message, Catherine playfully greeted him good morning and complained that he hadn’t been gentle with her last night, making her waist hurt so much that she needed him to massage it.
Adam didn’t look at me, smiling as he pressed the voice message button. “Was it me not being gentle, or was it little temptress who can never be satisfied?”
“Last time. Rozella bought me some massage cream. I’ll bring it over for you.”

I looked up p at him. With such a natural attitude, it was obvious that such scenes must have played out countless times over the years.
They chatted back and forth for a while.
Then Adam noticed I hadn’t touched my food.
“Don’t like it?”
I put down the spoon. “A bug fell into it, so it’s dirty. How disgusting.”
His hand, which had been constantly replying to messages, finally paused for a few seconds, and impatience flashed in his eyes.
“How about you just eat it and die?”
He muttered and frowned, throwing the porridge from my bowl into the trash.
Then he signed with his hands, asking if I wanted him to make me a sandwich instead.
I shook my head.
As I passed by the calendar, I saw the date for trying on the wedding dress. It had already passed a week ago.
I used to not understand, what job could be more important than getting married?
But after flipping through Catherine’s social media. I realized he didn’t have time to accompany me to take wedding photos but had plenty of time to go hiking, see the sea, and soak in hot springs with his little assistant.
I calmly ripped that page out and threw it into the trash

Chapter 2
When he pushed the door open, I had just finished a phone call.
He froze in place, staring at me as I pressed the screen off, as though struck by lightning. “You’re on the phone?”
I looked at him with a half–smile.
When I didn’t answer, he quickly signed to me again.
“It was just a sales ad.”
When he saw the screen, showing 143 contacts marked as sales ads, his stiff back relaxed, and he didn’t pursue the topic further.
He smiled and signed to me. “Today, I’ll accompany you to try on the wedding dress?”
Eighteen–year–old Adam had once stood with Rozella in front of a wedding dress shop window, fantasizing that one day, she would be his most beautiful bride.
At fifteen. Rozella had smiled and nodded, and from then on, every birthday wish she made was to marry Adam.
I nodded, thinking it would be a way to finally fulfill the dream of the once–innocent Rozella and Adam.
