Chapter 14 You’re a Good Boy

The young female, with her snow–white skin and delicate beauty, was stunning enough to capture anyone’s gaze. No one wanted to see her attacked by a snake, her life cut tragically short.
Some of those present recognized Tessa–they were her fans. Ever since the incident at Celadon.
House, they had known she was a young female with a strong sense of responsibility, s
truly special. They could see that she wasn’t acting out of recklessness–she simply couldn’t stand by and watch the snake kill someone.
Still, they thought she was being too naive. Surely, she didn’t realize the danger she was inviting upon herself.
“Run! Don’t let it bite you–even if it doesn’t kill you, it’ll cripple you!” Jacob grabbed Tessa’s hand. Though he didn’t approve of her reckless move, he didn’t scold her. Instead, he lifted her into his arms and swiftly retreated from the danger zone.
A male who had lost control wouldn’t tolerate even the slightest provocation–attacking anyone. who crossed his path. Sure enough, the massive black mamba, enraged by the coat thrown over its head, released the mother and her son, who were now on the verge of fainting from terror. The serpent coiled around the coat with wild, erratic movements.
The soft, pale–yellow fabric, carrying the young female’s faint, sweet scent, appeared even more fragile against the backdrop of the snake’s dark, metallic scales. It looked as though the coat would be shredded to pieces within seconds.
But the sound of fabric tearing never came.
instead, the crowd watched in stunned silence as the rampaging black mamba paused. Its movements slowed, hesitant, as if uncertain. The snake nudged the coat with its snout as though trying to catch a familiar scent.
“What’s it doing?
“It looks like it’s calming down…”
“N–No! Look out–it’s going berserk again!”
Realizing that the soft, fragrant object was nothing but a lifeless piece of fabric, the snake’s madness reignited. Clutching the coat tightly in its coils, it locked eyes on Tessa and shot toward her with lethal intent.
Jacob, still holding Tessa, had already retreated into the crowd, putting significant distance between them and the serpent. Yet no matter where he moved, the snake’s gaze never wavered from Tessa–it could sense her presence no matter how far they ran.
After changing spots several times and causing multiple waves of panicked screams, Jacob stopped running. Instead, he carried Tessa away from the crowd to prevent anyone else from getting hurt.

In a one–on–one battle, Jacob was confident he wouldn’t lose. The only reason he had avoided. confrontation was that he couldn’t guarantee Tessa’s safety while fighting. But since the snake refused to leave her alone, he had no choice but to settle things by force.
The hostile energy between the two males was unmistakable.
The black mamba, driven by feral instincts, had no fondness for Jacob either. This male had been clinging to his soft, sweet–smelling target all along–dodging and interfering whenever the snake tried to get closer. The snake had long wanted to tear Jacob apart and monopolize the young female all to himself.
Unlike Jacob, who remained calm and calculating, the snake, consumed by ferality, was reckless and impulsive. It lashed out first.
Tessa gasped in alarm.
She had known that throwing her coat at the snake was dangerous, but she had also been fairly confident she wouldn’t be attacked. Even the lion, despite being out of control, had been docile in her presence. Besides, she had grown up playing with snakes–big ones, small ones, venomous or not–without ever getting bitten.
But she hadn’t considered Jacob’s presence.
To therians, protecting females was an instinctual duty. Even some of the strangers around her had tried to help. Naturally, Jacob—who was her guardian–would do the same.
Her reckless move had placed Jacob in harm’s way.
“Stop!” Tessa cried out, extending her hand in a gesture of command.
Everyone froze in shock.
Is this young female crazy?
She looked adorable but clearly not very smart. Did she really think she could stop a feral male with just a word? Impossible!
Yet, to everyone’s astonishment, the black mamba’s attacking posture actually paused at the sound of her voice.
Though it seemed to yearn to approach the delicate, porcelain–like young female, Jacob’s presence in front of her made the snake visibly agitated, its body twitching with frustration.
The crowd murmured among themselves.
“Is it just my imagination, or does he not actually want to hurt that young female?”
“But males who lose control are no different from wild beasts. They don’t stop attacking just

“There’ve been plenty of cases where out–of–control males attacked females before…”
“He was just trying to kill his mother a moment ago–and she’s a female too.”

“You idiot! Beasts don’t care how kind you are. It’s the same with feral males. I bet he’s still planning to sink his fangs into her!”
Tessa wanted to try dispelling the black mist surrounding the snake, but the distance was too great, and her efforts had little effect.
At that, She glanced at Jacob, trying to convey her intentions through her gaze. Naturally, Jacob replied with a firm no. “You can’t put yourself in danger again.”
To him, no number of males combined was worth a single strand of Tessa’s hair. This snake didn’t deserve to get close to her–let alone have her risk her life to save him.
Yet Jacob found it impossible to resist the pleading look in Tessa’s eyes. With a resigned sigh, he relented, stepping forward to accompany her as they cautiously approached the black mamba, never leaving her side.
Unbeknownst to Tessa, Jacob had already slipped his hand onto the compact energy pistol he carried. The moment the snake showed any sign of attacking, Jacob would ensure it learned a lesson it wouldn’t forget.
The black snake’s scales gleamed with a dark, metallic sheen, sharp and solid. Despite the danger, Tessa boldly reached out and placed her hand directly on its head.
A collective gasp swept through the crowd.
Everyone tensed, too afraid to watch what might happen next–dreading the moment the snake would suddenly snap and sink its venomous fangs into the daring young female.
But as the seconds passed, the black mamba remained still. It did not attack.
“There, you’re a good boy,” Tessa murmured softly, her voice gentle and warm.
Though she reminded herself that this was a therian, not a true animal, she kept her touch light, stroking its head just enough to offer comfort. Then she focused her mind, gathering her strength.
This time, the black mist surrounding the snake seemed to weaken before her eyes. A faint crack appeared in the dense haze, quickly spreading as the mist began to dissolve and scatter into nothingness.
As the dark mist lifted, the snake’s frenzied aggression faded into calmness beneath her touch. Its coils looped gently around Tessa’s wrist, but its movements were cautious, not constricting. It wasn’t trying to attack, only to stay close to her. Even its venomous fangs retracted, dulling the danger that had terrified everyone moments before. The snake now seemed

A stunned silence fell over the crowd.
Not a sound was heard.
Holy Divine Solvyr… Is this real?

None of the onlookers understood what Tessa had done. All they could see was that the young female seemed to possess some inexplicable power–a power that had tamed a feral male and. brought him to heel without a single drop of blood being shed.
Even the Ferality Management Division, which specialized in handling out–of–control therians, often had no choice but to subdue them with brute force. Yet here, there had been no violence- only peace.
It was like something out of a dream.
With her delicate features and eyes filled with compassion, the young female seemed like a savior descended from the heavens, pulling a fallen male back from the depths of madness.
The crowd stood in silent awe–shocked, moved, and humbled all at once.
Even Jacob found himself staring at Tessa, momentarily mesmerized.
Suddenly, movement from the side caught his attention. The pharmacy owner from earlier rushed over, and Jacob frowned, assuming the man was there to pester him with questions. But to his surprise, the middle–aged male didn’t approach him at all.
Tears streaming down his cheeks, the shopkeeper dropped to his knees, raising his arms skyward as he shouted with unbridled fervor, “Oh, Divine Emissary of Solvyr! The Holy Solvyr has sent this noble female to us! She must be the emissary of Solvyr!”
