Chapter 15 Think Bolder

In the interstellar era, few people held true religious beliefs, yet ancient myths and traditions still lingered. Phrases like “Holy Divine Solvyr were often used to express surprise or offer blessings. Some still sincerely believed in the Beast God, Solvyr, trusting in the old legends that claimed Solvyr occasionally sent emissaries to help therians through their darkest moments.
The pharmacy owner was one such believer.
Though he had lived for over 300 years without witnessing a single miracle, he believed he now stood face–to–face with one.
Jacob stood in silence. As an atheist, he couldn’t understand the shopkeeper’s fervor. But there was one thing he did agree with–Tessa truly was a one–of–a–kind miracle in this universe.
The shopkeeper’s passionate display was contagious. Already shaken by Tessa’s astonishing feat, many in the crowd now gazed at her with reverent, almost fanatical eyes.
Tessa, realizing she had once again become the center of attention, stiffened uncomfortably. She had never sought the spotlight, yet ever since arriving in this world, she seemed to keep finding herself in it.
Thankfully, the arrival of the Ferality Management Division brought some relief. Their team of armed officers quickly began dispersing the crowd, allowing Tessa to breathe easier.
However, the sight of the heavily armed personnel immediately put the black mamba on edge. His fangs reappeared, eyes gleaming with aggression as he prepared to strike at anyone who dared approach.
The officers, experienced in handling out–of–control therians, understood the threat posed by a black mamba. Despite their advanced equipment, none of them dared to act rashly. After all, they had lost team members during similar capture missions in the past–and injuries were all too
common.
As they debated their approach, everyone watched in shock as the young female beside the snake casually raised her hand-
And forced the black mamba’s jaws shut!
“No baring your fangs,” Tessa scolded firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument. Then, softening her voice, she stroked the snake’s head. “I don’t like it when you bite people. Biting is bad. Biting is wrong. Understand?”
Whether or not the black mamba truly understood her words, he remained docile as she led him toward the Ferality Management Division team. He made no further attempts to show his fangs.
“Good boy, Tessa praised.
The snake flicked his tongue, a sign of contentment and relaxation. His gaze never strayed from Tessa, utterly ignoring the tense officers surrounding them as if they didn’t exist.

Worried that the black mamba might resist capture once separated from her, Tessa paused to
think.
Ultimately, she reached for the pale yellow coat still wrapped protectively within the snake’s coils. Tying the sleeves together, she fashioned the coat into a makeshift sash and draped it over the snake’s sleek black body.
The black mamba seemed delighted by the gesture. While a coat was no substitute for the real thing, it carried Tessa’s scent and warmth–making it a perfect source of comfort.
Satisfied, Tessa nodded to the officers, signaling that they could now take him away. Yet before they left, she felt compelled to speak up in the snake’s defense. “He lost control because he was being mistreated. There was a reason for what happened. Please don’t blame him–this wasn’t his fault. He’s the victim here.”
“Victim?” someone muttered under their breath. “Males are supposed to spend their money on females and obey them. That woman may not have been his mate, but she was his mother. He should’ve listened to her. Young males these days are too soft–too weak–minded…”
Tessa’s brow furrowed in displeasure. “Respecting females doesn’t mean unconditional obedience. If a mother can’t treat her children equally and chooses to exploit and abuse them, that’s wrong–plain and simple. Whether female or male, everyone should be held accountable for their actions.”
The crowd fell silent for a moment before bursting into an even louder chorus of voices.
“You’re right!”
“I can testify–the whole happened today because that mother and son wouldn’t stop provoking him. They hit him and pushed his emotions until he lost control!”
“I can vouch for that too! I saw the whole thing!”
“So can I! I even recorded a video!”
The chubby boy and the harsh–faced female, now huddled in a corner, found themselves the target of collective outrage. Neither dared to make a sound, and no one paid them any mind.
One of the officers from the Ferality Management Division stepped forward and assured everyone that they would consider all available evidence and deliver a fair and just verdict.
The squad captain then approached Tessa, lowering his voice slightly. “Pardon me, miss, but do you have some sort of ability to calm out–of–control therians?”
From what they’d observed, her ability was unlike the standard mental comfort provided by other females. She had done almost nothing–simply standing beside the black mamba with a calm demeanor–and yet the results were astounding.
Tessa’s posture stiffened slightly, her gaze wary. “I… just seem to be good with animals.”

“You’re too modest,” the captain replied. As someone experienced in handling feral therians, het could tell that the black mamba’s current calmness meant its Ferality Index had dropped below 80. This wasn’t merely a case of “being good with animals“-it was a completely unprecedented form of mental comfort.
“Would you consider visiting the Ferality Management Division for a check–up?” the captain asked. “Let our researchers run some tests.”
Tessa’s eyes widened as she instinctively stepped back, hiding behind Jacob, “What kind of tests?”
Ever since discovering that she was the only one who could see the strange black mist surrounding feral therians, she had known there was something different about her. It made sense–after all, she wasn’t originally from this world. But what if this difference made her a target?
Would going to the Ferality Management Division lead to blood tests and invasive procedures? What if they decided to dissect her to uncover the source of her abilities?
Jacob placed a reassuring arm around her shoulders, his voice low and steady. “Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to you.”
The Empire had learned a hard lesson from its one and only unethical experiment–an attempt to artificially cultivate females. That disaster had nearly brought the Empire to its knees, forcing it to reexamine its values. Since then, the government swore never to conduct experiments that violated ethical principles. Not even criminals, let alone precious females, would ever be subjected to human experimentation.
Meanwhile, the captain appeared even more shaken than she was, gravely wounded by Tessa’s suspicion. His face paled with shock, and his eyes widened in dismay. With a shaky voice, he vowed, “The Ferality Management Division would never harm you; I swear that on my life!”
If anything, they wanted nothing more than to protect her.
If her ability were actual, she would become a treasure unlike any other–a jewel in the crown of the Empire itself. Even the Imperial family would have to bow before her, treating her as an honored guest. As for human experimentation–such atrocities were the work of notorious interstellar pirates, not the Empire.
Reassured that she wouldn’t be subjected to anything invasive, Tessa’s curiosity about her unique abilities won out. After a brief moment of hesitation, she agreed to the invitation.
Upon arriving at the Ferality Management Division, Tessa was greeted personally by the director. Every staff member treated her with the utmost respect, their demeanor bordering on reverence.
Accompanied by Jacob, Tessa underwent a comprehensive medical examination. The entire process was quick, painless, and surprisingly gentle–there wasn’t even a blood test. By the end, Tessa almost felt guilty for doubting their intentions.

“She hasn’t even fully awakened, yet her mental fluctuations are already so strong!”
“Could we be witnessing the birth of an S Rank female?”
“Think bolder! Perhaps… even beyond S Rank…”
