Chapter 25 Why Are You Calling Her Tess?
“Forget it. If Marshal Lyon saw it, it wouldn’t look good.”
The military headquarters didn’t have a strict rule against eating at work, but their highest superior, Felix, never ate during office hours. As his subordinates, they had to show some restraint too.

Besides, takeout wasn’t that great anyway. “I really wanted a bun… too bad I didn’t win the raffle.”
“You watch Tessa’s live stream too?”
“Of course! I’ve been following her since the Celadon House days. I love her.”
Their conversation immediately caught the attention of a few others nearby.
“Don’t even bring it up–we got caught watching the live stream this morning by Marshal Lyon himself! We’re lucky he let it slide.”
Just as they were about to vent their frustrations, a colleague gave a warning cough.
Instantly, everyone clammed up. Felix had appeared, striding past them toward the building’s
entrance.
They fell silent, sneaking discreet glances in his direction. It seemed… someone had sent him a package. After signing for it, he cradled the package carefully in both hands and carried it back to
his office.
Curiosity was a powerful thing. Somehow, someone managed to catch a glimpse of what was
inside….
“Buns?!”
Everyone present was a regular viewer of Tessa’s live stream. There was no way they could be mistaken.
The transparent, insulated container definitely held the same plump, steaming buns that had been given away during the morning’s raffle. A quick estimate–there had to be at least ten inside! A stunned silence fell over the group. Their expressions ranged from shock to outright disbelief.
“Wait.. did Marshal Lyon watch the live stream too?”
“Did he actually win the raffle?!”
Back in his office, Felix set the container down, meticulously cleaned his hands, and then picked up a bun, studying it for a long moment before finally taking a bite. He chewed slowly,
deliberately as if savoring something truly exquisite

If Tessa saw him right now, she would be speechless..

They were just homemade buns. Who would have thought that one day they would end up on the Marshal’s table–let alone be eaten with the reverence of a gourmet feast?
Felix was just about to reach for a second bun when there was a soft knock at the door.
It was one of the officers he had caught watching Tessa’s live stream earlier.
The young male placed a stack of documents on his desk, but before leaving, he hesitated–then blurted out, “Sir… is that the bun you won from Tessa’s live stream?”
The rich, familiar aroma filled the air, making his stomach tighten. He fought the urge to drool.
He was this close to crying. Why couldn’t he have been the lucky one?!
Even if one of his colleagues had won, he could’ve at least begged for a bite. But who in their right. mind would dare steal food from Felix’s plate?
Felix remained as composed as ever. With an air of nonchalance, he corrected, “It wasn’t from the raffle. She sent it to me personally.”
No need to fight with billions of others over a mere 100 slots–this was a gift meant for him. alone.
His subordinate was speechless with astonishment. After a stiff pause, he gave a polite nod and quickly excused himself.
The moment he returned to his workstation, however, he cracked. “I can’t believe it–Marshal Lyon rigged the system! He said the buns were a personal gift from Tessa.”
His colleagues turned toward him in disbelief. Then-
“Oh, that has to be because he’s Major General Lyon’s uncle.”
“Yeah, makes sense.”
”
After all, there was no way Felix had some kind of personal connection to Tessa. Everyone knew he had zero interest in females.
Felix Lyon, Marshal of the Empire, was infamous for his utter lack of romantic inclination. It was practically common knowledge that no female would ever catch his eye.
Alexander had thought the same.
But even though he was certain Felix had no interest in females–and even though Felix had assured him there was no competition between them–he couldn’t shake this nagging sense of
unease.
So, when Tessa offered to send Felix some buns, Alexander’s instincts went on high alert. That

And before he could stop himself, he shot off a message–staking his claim.

He wrote, ‘Did you get the buns? Tess only sent them because you’re my uncle. Don’t read too much into it.
A long time passed before Felix finally replied, Then thank her on my behalf.
Such a simple, indifferent response–yet it made Alexander’s breath hitch.
He wrote, ‘Why are you calling her Tess?”
He was certain Felix had never addressed anyone with such familiarity before. That alone was enough to prove Felix saw Tessa differently.
Alarmed, he tried to put things back in order.
‘She only sees you as an elder.
The fact that she sent you buns was nothing more than an extension of her affection for me, thought Alexander.
He added, ‘She thinks I’m not taking good enough care of you, so she’s just doing it on my behalf.
He emphasized “on my behalf,” but Felix’s attention was caught on something else entirely-
Care.
His fingers traced the edge of the transparent container, his gaze softening ever so slightly. In his mind, an image of Tessa surfaced–small, bright, full of life.
He could almost hear her gentle, slightly teasing voice as she told Alexander she ought to look after his uncle.
