Chapter 115 – Revelation
Mar 20, 2025
Zara’s POV
“Where are you taking me?” I hissed as one of the guards pushed me forward down the dark tunnel. They had tied my wrists together and tied a rope like a leash around my neck.
“We are heading down to the forbidden temple,” Alpha Jack answered, sounding quite excited about it. “That is where Jamie, my faithful beta, will kindly remove Alpha Nicolas’s mark from your nape.”
“I don’t understand,” I replied. “I thought that was Alpha Noah’s grandfather?”
“He goes by many names,” Jack said. “The council knows him as Alpha Keiran. I know him as Jamie, my Beta, who possesses exceptional powers.”
I knitted my eyebrows together, confused. What the hell was Alpha Jack going on about?
“He seems to me just an ordinary Alpha wolf?” The words slipped from my lips.
Alpha Jack abruptly came to a stop, threw his head back, and laughed. The wolves snickered around me, finding my remark hilarious.
Was I the only one who didn’t know this secret?
“Are you sure?” Alpha, Jack asked, searching my gaze. His lips curling into a grin. “I assure you, Beta Jamie is no normal wolf, but don’t take my word for it…”
My gaze shifted to Jamie; he looked like any other wolf. I couldn’t understand what Alpha Jack was going on about.
“He is a warlock,” Kaya hissed, the hair on her back raised. “He is just acting to be a wolf so he can blend in.”
“I don’t see it,” I replied. There was nothing particularly warlock about him. “He looks just like any other ordinary wolf.”
“Take a whiff of the scent,” Kaya urged. “It will give you a clue.”
I lifted my nose in the air, not caring what anyone would think or say, and took a deep and long whiff of my surroundings.
I recognized Alpha Jack first and dismissed him as a wolf.
I smelled the grassland scent next, knowing it belonged to Noah, but when the sweet burning scent hit my nostrils, my eyes abruptly widened.
Jamie wasn’t just any warlock—he was descended from the Gemini coven.
“I guess you figured it out,” Alpha Jack said and laughed even louder.
“Why would he turn his back on his coven?” I asked.
The Gemini coven was powerful, they took care of their members. They would never let someone as powerful as Jamie just leave their coven.
“Because they turned their back on me and betrayed me,” Jamie said, and my gaze shifted to him. There was only coldness in his eyes, as if he lost part of his soul a long time ago.
Alpha Jack grabbed Jamie’s shoulder and gave it a squeeze.
“All in good time,” Alpha Jack said. “Your reunion with her is imminent!”
Jamie nodded, understanding those words, and Alpha Jack turned toward me.
“This old boy here made all this possible,” Alpha Jack went on, pushing me forward deeper into the tunnels.
I wasn’t sure where exactly we were, but my surroundings slowly but surely seemed more and more familiar. Have I been here before? Do I know this place?
“You see, when my fated mate, your mother, turned her back on me and my cause, I didn’t stop loving her…” Alpha Jack continued. He seemed adamant to state his case.
“You loved power more,” I mumbled, cutting him off.
Alpha Jack stopped, nodded, and smiled, as if he was weighing my words.
“You are right, I did,” he agreed. “I assume Beta John had filled you in about the cause of the war?”
I nodded, and Alpha Jack went on.
“That is great; that spares me some time to explain things,” he said. “Now, with your mother plotting against me, I couldn’t complete my destiny.”
My gaze shifted to him, asking the unspoken question.
“Ah, I see, they never told you what I was about to do?” He uttered these words, accompanied by a sinister grin.
“No,” I snapped, anger burning inside my veins. “I just learned about the numerous packs that endure hardship under your cruel name.”
“My reputation did run a head of me, I admit that,” he went on to say. “But I was never unreasonable or unfair…”
“Like now?” I stopped and hissed.
Alpha Jack knitted his eyebrows together in confusion.
“I am not sure—” he started.
“You are using innocent wolves as personal power banks to keep you alive?” I cut him off.
Something crossed Alpha Jack’s gaze as he gave me a look of confusion.
“They are not innocent,” he said seriously, his voice low and dangerous. “They joined the pack by their own choice. No one forced….”
“I don’t believe you,” I hissed. “I have seen—”
“Ah!” He interrupted with a laugh. “You are referring to that little rogue, aren’t you?”
I kept my mouth shut, just glaring at him.
“That girl is as dangerous as a snake,” he continued. “Did she describe how she killed every member of her pack?”
My eyebrows knitted together, making Alha Jack continue.
“I guess she didn’t,” he said. “Did she disclose the fact that she slashed her mother’s throat and killed her, or that she ripped her father’s heart from his chest?”
I shivered. Did she really do that?
Alpha Jack placed his hand on my shoulder for support, causing my gaze to shift unwillingly towards it. If it were under normal circumstances, I would have welcomed the gesture, but now it felt cold and deceitful.
“I wouldn’t even bother to worry about her anymore,” Alpha Noah said as he passed us. “Luke will give her what she deserves… she will never bother you again…”
I growled and fought against the ropes, but Alpha Jack simply found it amusing and tugged on the leash, forcing me forward.
“You don’t understand, do you?” he asked, grabbing my chin between his fingers. “Everyone here left their packs because the Goddess had forsaken them. They want their revenge against her just as much as I want….”
Alpha Jack let go of my face and stepped back.
“I will make you my queen tonight, and you will call all the fallen souls back to earth.” Alpha Jack’s lips turned into a wicked grin. “They will stand against the Goddess, fighting alongside us.”
“And then?” I spat. “What are your plans after that?”
“I will become the ruler of all immortals and mortals,” he snapped.
“You are sick,” I growled. “I will never let you—”
“Oh, we will see about that!” He said, pushing me toward something like an altar.
I haven’t even noticed that we were out of the tunnels.
I shifted my gaze to look around, and my eyes fell on the temple.
“Sh*t!” I muttered.
Jamie came closer and pushed me to an upright stump. He tied me up against it.
“What had happened to you?” I desperately asked. “Why are you following him?”
“He promised to bring my Allen back,” he said, finding my gaze. “I took his word for it. The same as any other rogue following him.”
“I don’t understand. Are they hoping to get their loved ones back? Is that why they sold their wolves to him?” I asked.
“Love has a price,” Jamie replied casually as he continued setting up for the ritual.
“Where do Alpha Noah and Alpha Luke fit into all of this?” I asked.
Jamie’s gaze snapped toward me, and his eyes suddenly glittered in excitement.
“They are our new, younger bodies,” he explained. “Every few years we take new ones. That way we can move around in plain sight without anyone knowing who and what we are. I assume you like Luke more?”
I didn’t reply. I felt nauseous.
“He will be Alpha Jack’s new host and your mate,” Jamie went on. “I’ll be taking Alpha Noah’s body. It’s time for a strong, young body….”
Luna Mary’s voice cut through the quiet cave, and my gaze shifted to where she stood and snapped at Alpha Jack.
“What is that all about?” I asked, gesturing to Luna Mary.
“She hates you for taking what is hers,” Jamie replied. “Alpha originally thought she was the chosen one—”
“But she wasn’t…” I completed Jamie’s thoughts. “How many girls over the years?”
“Nearly three hundred,” Jamie said, finding my gaze. “Alpha Jack was on the verge of giving up, but he found success when Alpha Nicholas named you his mate during your puphood.”
A shiver ran down my spine.
Was Jamie present when that happened?
“Luna Mary did everything in her power to gain Alpha Jack’s love. She even fell pregnant with Noah to blackmail Alpha Nicolas’s father with him,” he went on.
Jamie turned quiet for a second, staring at Luna Mary.
“You do know that if Alpha Nicholas’s substitute mate, Isabella, hadn’t died at childbirth, you would never have found him….”
“Wait? What?” My breath caught in my throat. “Alpha Nicholas was mated?”
“Yes, it was Luna Mary’s idea to bring Alpha Nicholas to me to erase his memories of you,” said Jamie. “It was her deepest wish that you would wed one of her sons so that Alpha Jack would never abandon her. Out of compassion, I gave her a love potion to administer to Alpha Nicolas on his eighteenth birthday. I never imagined it would work so well, even after her death; he loved her.”
I wasn’t sure what to say, but one thing was certain: everyone tried to keep us apart—and they succeeded.
“Oh, one last thing while I am brutally honest with you,” Jamie said as he got back on his feet. “Alpha Nicholas only adores you…”
“I don’t follow,” I replied, feeling slightly uncomfortable. How does he know about what Nic feels for me?
“The photo you found…” he said, a wicked smile followed on his thin lips. “That was the only way I could get you to leave his side…”
Life drained from my face as the revelation hit me—they tricked me! They fucking tricked me, and I fell for it!
Will I ever be able to escape and tell Nicolas how sorry I am? Or will I become the queen of destruction?
