Chris was very particular about our wedding. He was involved in every detail, personally overseeing everything.
By day, he would run between the company and the wedding venue. By night, he would sit in the living room, carefully writing out the wedding invitations.
“Chris, you don’t have to do all of this. You’re already working so hard. You don’t need to stress over the details,” I said as I stood at the top of the stairs, looking down at him in the living room.
He put the pen down and looked at me, giving me a soft smile. “No matter what, I want to give you the best, Ms. Caldwell. I know you might not have feelings for me, but you always come first in my heart.”
As our eyes met, I felt a fleeting pang in my heart, something I hadn’t felt in a long time.
“You don’t need to feel burdened,” he continued with a gentle smile. “Just focus on being a beautiful bride.” His eyes, still smiling, held no more secrets, and I could see the emotions he had long kept hidden.
