At the beginning of the second year, I was notified that I had been selected as one of the city’s Top Ten Outstanding Youths.
When I received this news, I could hardly believe it.
I held my phone and called Steve to confirm, “Are they not scammers? How could I possibly be selected as an outstanding youth?”
However, Steve remained utterly unsurprised. “With your excellence, what’s impossible?”
I felt like I was in a dream. Suddenly, the young man in front of me knelt on one knee, holding flowers that seemed to appear out of nowhere.
“So, remarkable Miss Carter, can you be with Mr. Ford, who has harbored feelings for you for a long time?” Suddenly, the LED screen on the building behind him changed to display: “Wendy Carter, I like you, will you be my girlfriend?”
He still remembered a playful remark I had made to him once: “Love begins with a bouquet of flowers and an official confession.”
I blinked my eyes. “Aren’t we already together?”
Steve chuckled and rose, placing the flowers in my embrace. From the midst of the bouquet, he retrieved a dazzling star–shaped necklace and placed it around my neck.
“You… you’ll drive me crazy one day.”
I smiled mischievously, tiptoed to reach his neck, and leaned in for a kiss.
Today truly was a doubly auspicious day.
However, what I didn’t expect was that not long after, unexpectedly ran into Nash.
That day, I finished work early and went to visit Steve at his company. Steve told me he needed ten more minutes to wrap up some work and asked if I wanted to wait for him in his office or downstairs. Not
wanting to wait for the elevator, I opted to walt downstairs.
In less than ten minutes, Steve hurriedly descended the stairs.
“Is everything done? Why the rush? I’m not going anywhere,” I said, wiping the sweat from his forehead with a touch of concern but also relishing his attention.
Steve planted a kiss on my lips and grinned, “I need to hurry back to my dear girlfriend. No matter how big the task, I have to finish it in five minutes.”
I gave him a playful glare, my face turning red again.
“What do you want to eat?” We walked out of the company’s entrance, and he slipped my hand into the pocket of his jacket.
I wasn’t very hungry at the time and suggested, “Let’s grab something casual around your office, and maybe we can watch a movie later?”
Steve was very accommodating, pointing to a restaurant across the street. “How about that place? The interior is quite unique, and they have a coffee that tastes great. I think you’ll like it.”
