CHAPTER 21
MELANIE
IT’D BEEN A LITTLE OVER A WEEK SINCE I CAME INTO JORDAN’S HOUSE AND HE STILL
hadn’t said anything about kicking me out. I’d woken up the day after the incident in a fresh pair of pajamas and I tried to convince myself it wasn’t him who’d changed me but he broke that illusion when I was thanking him for his help and I’d addressed him as Mr. Alonso but he said “I’ve seen you naked twice now so drop the formalities. It’s Jordan.”
I wasn’t too sure how I felt about that. I’d tried to distract myself from thoughts of his hands on my body by accusing him of doing perverted things to me while I was asleep but he wasn’t having any of it and just walked away.
I wondered why he hadn’t just called one of his domestic staff to do it but the suggestions my brain was bringing up were too implausible.
We barely saw each other after that day. Blaine still came to pick me up every morning and dropped me off every night. 1 mostly interacted with his head housekeeper Lauren
Lauren was an absolute doll. She was always there whenever I came in with a cold drink and a warm smile. –
She made the most delicious food (no disrespect to Julio) and made sure I was full to bursting and then some, always complaining that I was too skinny and needed more nutrition. Who was I to complain?
However after a week of barely any activity, I was starting to get restless. I needed to burn off the excess energy and I’d found the perfect way to do it. The only times I’d seen Jordan around the house he had a towel around his neck and a bottle of water in his hand so I assumed there must be a gym somewhere, either in the house or the area.
So this morning I woke up early with an agenda to find it. I couldn’t simply ask Lauren as I was sure she wouldn’t help me for reasons already stated and I had no idea where to find Jordan
It also gave me an excuse if I was found snooping around his house. The house, villa actually, was massive and I wondered how he could live here all by himself
I was almost positive there were rooms he himself hadn’t been in. I wandered down the hallway and the stairs, finding myself in the large living room with an alcove separating a dining area. I paused for a moment looking around for a particular door. I’ve been in enough villas to know the owners usually had their gyms located in their basements so I was starting the search from there
I located the door at the far end of the living room and walked to it, opening it to find a set of stairs leading downwards. I besitated a little for all I knew I could be walking into a torture chamber or a playroom, but I shrugged it off.
If I found a playroom down there it was just more arsenal to annoy Jordan with. I got to the bottom of the stairs and found myself in a large space with gym equipment on one side and the bluest, clearest pool on the other.
“Woahh” I muttered, grinning like a kid at the fair. You knew you were with rich people when you found underground pools in their homes. Plus the gym equipment looked high–end, well used but well maintained.
Saving the pool for later I headed over to the gym section, plugged in my car pods which had been in the bag Blaine brought me along with an iPod (in case you get bored, he’d said. Such a sweet boy) and started on the treadmill
I didn’t hear the door open, so it was only when I saw a figure move in front of me that I yelped and stumbled, almost didding off the treadmill. I steadied myself and slowed the pace to a walk, shooting Jordan a glare then just…stopping.
The man standing before me was breathtakingly, gloriously, shirtless and wearing only gym shorts. I didn’t even mind the scowl on his face it was almost always there anyway as I shamelessly ogled him.
He cleared his throat “What are you doing here?” he snapped. Reluctantly I tore my eyes away from his ripped abdomen. and looked into his face. He didn’t look pleased. Then again, I wouldn’t too if I found someone in my space, so I smiled
nervously.
“Good morning. Sorry. I would’ve asked you first but I didn’t know where to find you, and Lauren is so intent on feeding me that I doubt she’d be pleased if I asked her for directions to a gym ”
I chuckled at my lame attempt at a joke as he remained unsmiling.
Jeez, lighten up already.
Sighing, I got off the treadmill and started to gather my things “I’ll just get going then.”
Lode to carry my bag but his voce stopped me. “You can stay.” There was no way I was going to remain here because
thugs were bound to get awkward so I just shook my head “No, it’s fine I was just about finished anyway. That was a lie because i barely gotten started but he didn’t need to know that
Before he could speak again, I burned away, closing the door silently before double–timing it back to my bedroom. This morning s mission had been a partial bust, but now I knew where the gym was so I could always go back but earlier or later than I did voday to avoid running into Jordan agam
1
Things tended to get heated between us and I was not in to the constant tension. I briefly remembered him crouching in froot of me to take care of my hand a week ago, and how my stomach had tightened with unfamiliar emotions as he was being so gentle
1 book my bead on my way to the bathroom I needed to focus. I was not here to feel tangled emotions about some green–eyed billionaire thad a bigger agenda Showering and getting dressed in record time, I once again made my way downstairs but this time to eat breakfast as I wanted for Blaine
I met Lauren already in the kitchen and she gave me one of those motherly smiles as I greeted her
“Did you have an early morning? I heard you moving around,” she said as she set a plate of French toast and hash browns
down in front of me.
Sort of I was trying to find the gym and I found it but Jordan came in and at first he wouldn’t let me use it.” I replied casually and she frowned. Before I could hastily explain that he had offered, Jordan came in fully dressed and pecked Lauren on the cheek then sat down to eat
“Melanie here tells me you wouldn’t let her use your gym” she said and Jordan shifted those eyes to me while my cheeks burned with mortification
“I offered and she declined. he shrugged but she continued to frown
I heard the front door open and 1 swallowed down the food in my mouth and stood up as Blaine entered the kitchen “Gotta ge. Work and all I muttered not meeting anyone’s gaze
“Here you go. dear. I packed you a lunch” Lauren handed me a bag
“What about me?” Jordan asked and she scowled at him again
You don’t get one since you don’t share. Perhaps if you’re good Melanie would share hers with you,
