Chapter 7
I smiled as I said, “He’s been busy with work lately, so he’s been coming home a bit later.”
Sadie responded with a disappointed “Oh” as her face fell sightly.
I glanced at her and asked, “Henry should be home soon, right? Aren’t you going back to make dinner for him?”
She pouted. “He can just figure it out himself. He comes home all sweaty and stinky every day, and then he expects to be treated like a king? Not a chance.”
I simply smiled and said nothing. After seeing her out, Quin finally dared to come home.
He frowned slightly. “When are you going to cut ties with her? I’ve been hiding at the school all the time, and I miss you.”
I could not help but laugh. This version of Quinn was like a mischievous cat that loved sneaking around.
In private, he was incredibly clingy, and his sweet talk had become so bold that it sometimes left me blushing furiously.
I playfully pushed him and said, “Once I finish the SATs and you get your certificate, we’ll move to Brooksville as a family.”
“Right now, we’re surrounded by neighbors, and it would be messy to make things too obvious.”
Quinn kissed me gently. “Alright, I’ll listen to my wife.”
Despite his best efforts to avoid her, Sadie eventually ran into Quinn.
One rare weekend morning, Sadie knocked on the door bright and early. As soon as she stepped inside, she saw Quinn sitting on the sofa.
Her face flushed as she hurried over, and exclaimed, “Dr. Green!”
Quinn glanced toward the kitchen, where I was busy, and instinctively shifted away from her.
