When I got home, Xavier kept messaging me from time to time, sharing little bits of his life.

He’d tell me how the milk from the breakfast shop near his office was surprisingly sweet or how his coworkers complained about the terrible cafeteria food, so he found a new catering partner. He’d even mention his nighttime runs like the time he came across a stray kitten rummaging through a trash bin for food.
He sent me a picture of it that night and told me he’d decided to take it in.
Sometimes, when I received his messages, I couldn’t help but think back to the honeymoon phase of our relationship. Even though we were miles apart, we shared every little detail of our daily lives.
Later, when we finally ended our long–distance relationship, we still made time to chat every single day. That was until Kimberly came along. Slowly, his messages became less frequent.
After that, the one standing still, the one still sharing everything, was just me.
Back then, I was like him now.

A few days later, I deleted him from my social media. But it didn’t take long for him to find another way to reach me.
That night, he called me drunk, crying. He cursed at me, called me heartless, cold–blooded. He said I abandoned him. He hurled every insult he could think of.
Then, through his sobs, he asked, “We took so many pictures together… Why can’t I find a single one at home now?
“Camille, I miss you so much.”
A week later, I received a text.
Xavier told me he was getting married to Kimberly.
It didn’t surprise me. I had seen it coming.
By then, I was caught up with my own career. After returning home, I landed a promising new job with great prospects. With my experience, it took me only three months to climb to a managerial position.
I sent him my congratulations.
Later, I heard from a friend that their wedding was grand and extravagant. But on the day of the ceremony, they had a huge fight in front of everyone.
Xavier lost control and pushed Kimberly down the stairs. She suffered a miscarriage and massive bleeding. The baby didn’t survive.
The scandal spread like wildfire overnight.
It wasn’t until later that I found out what had really happened.
Kimberly had botched an important deal due to her carelessness. Xavier told her to apologize, and she did, but the moment the client said something she didn’t like, she threw her drink in his face.
The deal fell through. Xavier’s company’s reputation plummeted.
Desperate to fix things, he spent his days networking and negotiating, trying to salvage what he could. But Kimberly resented him for not spending time with her. So, behind his back, she secretly embezzled a large sum of company funds.
When Xavier found out, he was furious. But that was also when Kimberly told him she was pregnant.
With no other choice, he married her.
Then, on their wedding day, Kimberly pulled another stunt. When Xavier found out, he finally snapped.
And disaster followed.

Kimberly was rushed to the hospital. Before she even woke up, Xavier had already filed a lawsuit against her, demanding financial
compensation.
In the end, Kimberly was convicted of embezzlement and sent to prison.
Theard that Xavier went bankrupt. After liquidating everything, he vanished without a trace. No one ever saw him again.
But on the very day he disappeared, I received a package in his name.
Inside was the deed to a villa, listed under my name, and a diamond ring of just the right size.
