Before she could even begin her jumping act, two officers, one on each side, grabbed her and lifted her up.
“Ma’am, please cooperate with us.”
Jessica struggled violently, crying and screaming.
“Let me go! You’re all accomplices! I’ll sue you!”
But her strength was nothing compared to that of the two trained officers.
They carried her to the ambulance and sent her to the hospital.
I watched the ambulance drive away, finally feeling a sigh of relief.
She was such a troublemaker.
If she had really jumped, I’d never be able to clear my name.
Thankfully, that didn’t happen.
I pulled out my phone and called my lawyer and the PR department head.
“Handle the online public opinion as soon as possible.
“Collect evidence and sue Jessica for defamation.

“I want her to know what happens when she plays with fire and gets burned.”
After hanging up, I rubbed my temples.
It had been a long day.
By the time everything was settled, it was already late at night.
I walked out of the company building, ready to head home.
A black car pulled up in front of me.
The window slowly rolled down, revealing a familiar face.
It was Logan.
I paused for a moment.
Logically speaking, he should be with Jessica right now, crying his eyes out.
Why was he here?
“You finally came out,” Logan said with a slight smile, his voice carrying an eerie tone. “I’ve been waiting for you for quite a while.”
I frowned.
“What do you want?
“I’ll call the cops.”
Logan chuckled, his gaze turning more intense.
“Don’t worry.
“I know you just want to get back at Jessica.
“And I…
In the next moment, he suddenly leaned closer and lowered his voice.
“I can help you.”
Chapter 9
When Logan said he could help me, alarm bells immediately went off in my head.
This guy, just like Jessica, couldn’t have any good intentions.
How could he be so nice? Nothing good can come from that.
I stared at him cautiously, like I was eyeing a venomous snake.
He seemed to sense my doubt.
“I know what you’re thinking.
“You don’t trust me.
“But Jessica’s in deep trouble now, and if I stay with her, I’ll eventually get dragged down too.
*Rather than sinking with her, it’s better to turn to the light.”
His tone was calm as if he was simply stating a fact,
finwardly sneered.

He sounded a lot better than he probably was.
“So how do you plan to turn to the light?” I asked.
He paused, and a flicker of greed passed through his eyes.
“The online public opinion is all over the place right now.
“I have evidence of Jessica spreading rumors.
“As long as you’re willing to give me five million dollars, I’ll help you clean this up.”
I thought, “Five million?”
I almost laughed out loud.
