Chapter 49
I still couldn’t believe my cars. Irene was pregnant? H–how?
I mean, yes, we’ve been intimate, we even had sex just a day ago, but Irene had complications; she couldn’t get pregnant. That’s the reason I married her, because I was the cause of her infertility, but her being pregnant now? This will ruin my plan.
“Arc. are you sure, Irene? Maybe your period is late or
“You’re holding the proof, Logan,” she said, which made me look down at my hands, and that’s when I saw the brown envelope. I had forgotten I was holding it. I wanted to surprise you, but you weren’t in your office. Where were you?”
“Oh yeah, 1.” I scratched the back of my head thinking of a lie to tell her. I couldn’t tell her I went to court.“1”
It doesn’t matter, we are going to have a baby, 1
so excited, and I can’t wait to share this news with
everyone.”
“W–what?”
“We are having a baby, Logan. You’re the CEO, that means the baby is the heir to the Miller group, everyone needs to know
“It’s a few weeks, Irene.”
“Exactly the point, we have to hold a press conference; I want everyone to be talking about it.” She said with a wide smile, when she turned to me, I also faked a smile and then lied that I was happy.
“This is it’s good.” I uncomfortably said,
“I know it is: Go
God, I can’t wait to tell Charlotte, she will be so happy, wow, I’m going to be a mother. She looked so happy, and I didn’t want her to feel bad: that’s why I pretended to be happy too. “So I’m thinking the restaurant, or should we do Charlotte’s house?”
“Do what?”
“The baby announcement, or the company-
“Irene
“Everyone must know Logan; this baby is a miracle. I especially can’t wait for Patricia to find out; she will be so jealous.”
“I need to work
“What?”
“I said I need to work; go home; we will discuss it there, okay?” I said as I walked to my desk; her mentioning Patricia reminded me that my chance with Patricia was zero.
“Alright, I will leave but come back for lunch. I—”
Tcant
“Dinner and no excuses, I’m going to prepare your favorite, or just order it; anything works, right?”
“Right” I cleared my throat, and as I sat, Irene came to me. She almost kissed my lips, but I turned so her lips landed on my cheel
“See you tonight, love, I feel this baby is going to bring us even closer,” she said as she walked toward the door. “I especially can’t wait for my push gift; I hope I get billions of dollars, hehe.” She giggled, then walked out, and as soon as the door closed, I slammed the desk, sending some items to the floor.
“Fuck!” 1 cured and then stood up and walked to the window, “Shin.” I punched the window, and luckily it was strong glass, as it didn’t break, but my hand was as I cursed in pain.
How could this be? I was so close to wisning Patricia hack, and then this? No, it can’t be, Irene can’t be pregnant, she simply can’t.
With that
I got my phone and dialed Noah.
“Mr. Miller?”
“I don’t know how you’ll do it, but I want you to go to this address and find out from their system if the results are real and, most importantly, if it’s Irene’s result”
Chapter
I don’t
pay you to question me
“I will send you a photo, I want an answer within an hour.” Ending the call, I picked up the envelope, which also fell with the other items, and then placed it on the desk. I took a picture and sent it to Noah.
I really hoped she wasn’t pregnant because if she was God, I couldn’t even bring myself to think of it, divorcing Irene would now, not even to think of getting Patricia.
be hard
I then walked to my seat, and just as I was about to sit. I heard a knock on the door. I don’t know what made me think it was Patricia, quickly fixed my shirt, and then, clearing my throat. I asked the person to come in
Of course, it wasn’t Patricia but my secretary.
“Did Patricia send you?”
“No, Mrs. Cooper didn’t send me, there are documents that need your approval.”
“Approved.”
“I think you should go through them, sir”
“Alright, fine, ask the tech team to connect me to Patricia’s office”
“Sir
“They do have cameras in her office, right?”
“Yes, do you mean to ask for the earlier footage!”
one must come and connect it to my computer; I want to keep an eye on her. I lied, as I just wanted to
“No. I mean to watch her live, one n watch her.
“Sir, that’s-
Not your business, get the task done or you’re fired!” I raised my voice as her question irritated me,
“Alright, sir, I will.. I will get it done.”
“Good, now get out of my office.” I said, and she turned to leave, but when she reached the door, she turned back, making me glare at her, but she quickly spoke, saying she had a package for me, “Drop it here and leave.” Lordered, and she did as I asked and then left.
Well, I was not interested in whatever it was, so I waited for the tech team to do their job; I couldn’t work without seeing Patricia.
I was about to get the telephone and call the tech department and fire whoever was in charge, as it was taking them so long when I heard a knock on the door. Asking the person to come in, I realized it was my secretary and one of the guys, and with how nerdy he looked, I figured he must be from the tech team.
“Took you this long.” I said, and they both apologized, and the guy asked if he could get to my computer, and I moved from the way as he seemed scared of me. “Hurry, I don’t have the whole day, I instructed as he got to work
I watched as my secretary picked the things that were on the floor and organized the desk. Well, I was basically doing nothing, and it was starting to bore me, so walking to the desk, I watched as the tech guy set up everything–he seemed done to me as he started explaining. “When you want to see a specific office, you just click here and choose..” His explanation told me my secretary told him to set up cameras in every office, which was not what I asked her for, as I was only interested in Patricia’s office.
“You can go,” I said, and he excused himself while I sat and pressed on Patricia’s view
DELL
“They would be suspicious, and you never know who’s listening, that’s why I lied,” my secretary said, and I asked her to leave.
After the door closed. I comfortably sended down as I admired Patricia, who seemed to be typing on her computer.
“Wow” I never thought she would be sitting in an office one day. She wasn’t looking in the camera and it seemed that tech guy wasn’t as smart as all nerds, as I couldn’t hear anything, but I didn’t have time to call him. For now, the image was enough, so getting the documents, I started reviewing them while watching Patricia,
Chapter 45
It took a few minutes to be done, well, in all honesty. I wasn’t even reading as 1 just wanted to stare at Patricia. I mean, this will be what I be doing from today on coming in here and staring at her pretty face all day.
Paning them away, I got the last envelope. I wondered who had sent it, but then when I saw the stamp, I realized it was from the lab, the results 1 had requested for the DNA of Patricia and her aunt Victoria.
Tearing the envelope open, I got the documents and scanned through to the relative chances, and I was shocked when I saw it was zero percent
So she was telling the truth.
Patricia was really not her niece!
Now, who were Patricia’s real parents? Were they alive! Looking for her?
