No, it couldn’t be. Logan wouldn’t do that to me, he couldn’t
I was finding it hard to breathe so I gasped for air.
“Oh, are you okay!” She asked when she saw that I was struggling to breathe; from her voice, I could tell she didn’t care whether I was okay or not; she just wanted to make fun of me. “D–do you need water?” she asked while I took deep breaths.
“Stop pretending, you want me dead, don’t you?” I said as I was now calm.

“Oh.” She giggled, looking at her finger–at her ring to be precise. I couldn’t stop my eyes as I made out the features of the ring: something in me just wanted to believe it wasn’t the same ring. I wanted to give Logan an excuse to be decent because there was no way he proposed to Irene while still married to me.
“I see you’re staring at my ring. Do you like it?” She asked, now holding her hand up so that I could have a clear view of the ring, “İn happened yesterday, right after you left, actually,” she said as she now used her other hand to admire it. She had a smile on her face and was talking to me as if I was her friend. I mean, the man who proposed to her is my husband, so how did this sound normal to her?
“Irene, are you… Are you okay?”
“Happy, if I’m being honest.” She answered out of the topic, and I shook my head, trying to stop myself from overreacting, “You know, giving Logan up years ago was not easy; I was still very much in love with him when I left

“Yes and that’s why I returned and even stooped so low as to be his secretary; to be honest, I didn’t need the job; it’s just my man I wanted back.” She was still admiring the ring while I stood up and started pacing around, my hands running in my hair. God, she really had the guns, and I didn’t even blame her; I blamed Logan for making her so comfortable in our home. “Oh, did I say something wrong?” She acted like she had just noticed my uneasiness. “I mean-
“Oh, shut up, Irene!” I was not having it anymore; she looked around, and at her back, she couldn’t believe I just yelled at her as she even pointed at herself, “Yes, Tm talking to you, or what? You thought I didn’t have a voice.”

“I’ve had enough of you, Irene. What! You thought you could just come from wherever and take my husband? You thought I would just sit and watch you!” I questioned, and she blinked maybe ten times as if in shock before she burst into laughter; she laughed so hard as it someone was tickling her. “Oh, it’s a joke to you, right?”
“I mean, wait..” She cleaned her tears. No, she wasn’t crying it was tears that came from her laughter. Yes, that’s how hard she laughed. She stood up, and she was so careful with herself as she first made sure her clothes were looking good, not wrinkled from the sitting. before she asked, “Are you being serious?”
“You know I’m serious; Logan might have proposed to you, but I’m still legally his wife

d she sounded shocked Well she wasn’t alone as I was also shocked at this point. Logan didn’t even bother to call to find out if I got home safe or not he stayed and consoled the woman he was cheating on me with.
I mean. I’ve seen in films at least when the man is caught, he would run after his wife and leave the mistress behind, but mine. Mine was different: instead be asked me to leave and even threatened to call security on me if I didn’t leave.

“I won’t listen to you.” I said and tried to walk away from her, but she held me back by my arm. “Irene?”
“You’re a nobody, Patricia. What gives you the right to walk away while I’m still speaking?”
“Irene, you don’t want to go there.” I was really trying to be calm. I even sounded calm, but I feared my demon wouldn’t stay calm for long. “You want Logant Fine, you can have him.”
“Don’t sound like I need your permission to have him; Logan is mine; he has always been mine. Her grip on my arm tightened, and it was starting to make me feel pain, so I tried to remove her hand, but that’s when she used my arm to push herself, next, she fell to the floor and screamed, pretending to be in pain.
I was first confused at what was happening until I saw my husband run from the stairs to her, the force she used was too much, as I was also on the floor, and she caught me off guard as I felt a little pain in my back.
“Logan, she she pushed me.” She spoke as if in pain. I was going to defend myself when I felt a stinging pain burn my left cheek. I lifted my hand to touch my cheek, and that’s when I realized what had just happened: Logan slapped me.
