Chapter 31
LOGAN
After breakfast with Charlotte, I went to my company. I still couldn’t believe she was asking me to find a surrogate. Well, I was because then she wouldn’t have a problem with me winning back Patricia since all she cared about was me having a child.
glad
I was in my car on a call with Uncle Jack, who was managing my filmmaking company. I was going there for an inspection. I trusted Jack, but I still had to make sure everything was running smoothly. Now this is my favorite company. I started this one from scratch, and so far we have made so many successful movies that we were the top film production company in Miami.
Jack was telling me about the new investor, and the contract was signed; he told me he wanted my tearn to produce his own film, and since he was an investor, I agreed and asked him to do what was best for the company,
After a few minutes 1 parked at the company; I didn’t have much time, just thirty minutes, as I had to return to the Miller group–I was needed there more.
“Mr. Miller, welcome My secretary greeted me and gave me a cup of coffee. Thanking her, I walked toward my office. I had to settle in first before 1 started with my inspection. I was about to take a sip when my phone started ringing. Now I held the cup of coffee with my left, so I reached into my pockets with my right, but that’s when I felt the hot liquid spill on my shirt. I was going to fire the person responsible for it when my eyes met her hazel–green ones.
It was like a dream; Patricia was standing in front of me.
She first apologized, but when she realized it was me, she stopped, shocked that it was me, it was clear she didn’t expect it to be me either.
I didn’t understand what was happening, how she was here, or what she was doing here when one of the staff–I recall her face but not her name–came to us. I mean, why did I have to know her name when she was simply just my employee? Well, after she apologized. she introduced us, saying Patricia was the new investor. I was stunned.
I immediately dismissed the lady and focused on Patricia, who wasn’t saying a word. I mean, this must be fate, right? Because explain how Patricia was in my company, my investor at that.
“Mr. Miller, you should watch your way next time.” She said after clearing her throat, which made me smirk; I mean, she was clearly on the phone, too. How could she put the blame on me? But I was trying to win her back, so I nodded and apologized.
“So, I believe we have a meeting?“:
“Oh yes, I already had a meeting with the manager, Mr. Jack.”
“My uncle”
“No, Mr. Jack,” she repeated, making me wonder what she was getting at “I will see you around,” she said and almost left when I stopped her. “What?”
“You know I’m the CEO, so since you’re the investor, I owe you a background of the company. I think coffee will do?” I smiled, and at first, I was happy to see that she returned my smile, but when the words came out, mine faded; her husband is the investor and not her, that bastard.
“Im only here to help my husband and make sure you give him what you promised, a good movie, otherwise, I will pass the coffee date to him. I am sure you two have a lot to talk about; you know about the contract,” she said, and somehow the word husband caused my heart pain, as when she mentioned it, I felt a part of me shift, like physical pain in my chest, which was very weird. “Please excuse me, she said before finally walking past me.
I turned and watched as her body moved, the way the heels clicked on the floor, her legs, confidence–God, she was the woman of my dreams. I couldn’t believe I let her go. Maybe I could have just asked her to go to the gym because her body–God, it was still hard to believe she was the Patricia I knew, the Patricia I married years ago.
“I will have you,” I said under my breath before I turned and walked to my office as she had disappeared.
Inside I found Uncle Jack waiting in with documents,
“I have information on all departments: the production, editorial, and finance. I also have the pre–buy contracts from streaming platforms. We have so inany deals coming in: I don’t know how they found out, but it seems this book is very popular.”
“We are
We are not taking any deals for now, so I walked to my seat. “The new investor is Richard!”
“Mr. Cooper, yes, from England. He’s here on business, so his wife will be in his place. The production team already had a meeting with

her, and they sent me the changes. We will review it together and-
“Approve them
“Approve thems” I repeated, it was Patricia. I didiv’t want her to change her mind in case of anything. I wanted her here no matter what
“Logan, you do know any mistake can cost us billions, right? This is not a joke; it’s-
“Anything else“” I cut him off as I sat down.
“Good place the documents down: 1 will review and sign what needs to be signed, you can go, I said, and he nodded before he placed the documents down. He was going to leave when he changed his mind as he tumed and asked about Irene.
“she’s fine
“Okay. Charlotte misses her can we do dinner?
“I was just with Aunt and she has a different story.”
“Oh
“She wants me to get a surrogate.
“Well, you know you can’t do that, right? Irene is the way she is because of you.”
“But I need an heir but thats not important now. Make sure this deal goes well; I don’t want any complaints, okay!”
“Wow, do you know Mr. Cooper or something?”
“Let’s just say I know his wife and I stopped myself as I was blushing: god, what was this? I stood up and walked to the window.
“And” My uncle seemed curious.
“Llave my eyes on—Irene?”
“Yes, she’s here What the fuck? How did she know I was here? No, I can’t see her. You p
go and stop her.”
“Logan, what’s happening Irene is your wife, what-
“Go now!” I raised my voice, making him nod his head before he quickly rushed out.
I took a deep breath as I calmed myself. I hadn’t seen her in days; last time I asked my secretary to throw her out. If she hadn’t come with a gun, then I didn’t know her well, and I did, so I was sure she was here to kill me,
