Chapter 33
PATRICIA
I still couldn’t believe Logan was the CEO of the company that I was going to work with Well, after successfully getting rid of him by telling him if he wanted to talk, he should speak to Richard, I left.
I found Richard outside the car waiting for me after hugging him. I got inside, and he joined shortly. He asked what I wanted to eat, and I told him anything. I just wanted to get out of the place, so realizing I was not in a good mood, he asked if he could take me home instead
“We can pick up Andreas early, then I can prepare something for us to eat.” He said, but I shook my head, it was too early–I knew he had work to tend to, and it was Andreas‘ first day at the school; I didn’t want him to miss anything.
“I guess I’m just trying to fit in.” I lied.
“Really? I thought I asked them to be nice. Listen, you don’t have to go through with it; we can find another-”
“I’m good, thank you.” I said cutting him off; he hesitated but nodded, then reaching for my hand, he gently caressed it, saying encouraging words, that he believed in me and, that them filming the movie would get me to far places, “They are the best, that’s why 1 chose them.” He added, making me nod as I realized he had no idea that Logan was the CEO.
We had arrived at the restaurant; I waited for him to open my door before we walked in, holding hands because Richard loved doing
that.
Inside, after he pulled my seat, we ordered coffee since it was still early and we had breakfast already,
“I spoke to Florence,” Richard said as he added sugar to my cup. “She’s handling it well there, so you don’t have to worry yourself about Cooper publishing” He said, and 1 remembered Florence’s complaints, how she said she was finding it difficult to manage. Well, I knew she would complain to me and not to Richard, as he could just fire her. With a smile, I thanked him.
“I have an assistant here, I told him, as he suggested, to get me an assistant.
“Wow, they really did meet my expectations.
“Yes, and they all seem nice, genuinely interested in my opinion because I made a few changes, and they said they would review it and get back to me,” I said before taking a sip of my coffee.
“I’m glad.” he said and then sipped on his cup before suggesting finding a nanny for Andreas, “You will be busy with work; we can’t have him stay at school until late.”
-You are right; there will also be scenes that need to be taken at night, and I have to be there.
“You don’t have to be there on the night scenes, I won’t allow it.”
“Richard-
“We are not discussing it. Patricia. Night scenes, you’re home, they’ll have the scripts, they will do just great without like you’re one of the actors, right?”
“I know, but-”
you. I mean, it’s not
“It’s not a job, it’s not your responsibility to make sure they shoot the movie correctly; it’s theirs. You are the client, and they are professionals. Sure, be there during the day because I assume you’re bored, but nighttime? No, I won’t accept that He sounded so serious, and I honestly didn’t want to argue, so I nodded and then asked about the progress with his father’s company, wanting to change the topic.
“Isaw the interview; are you okay?”
“Yes..” he cleared his throat, “everything is turning out well, see, I don’t think he died of a normal death.”
“I’m still looking into it; once they find something. I will let you know
“Alright, but what’s making you doubt in the first place! I mean, no offense, but your dad was sick, and with his age–considering how he was supposed to be retired but kept working. I feel it’s normal”
“I don’t know, did you know he had a girlfriend?”

ne with an “He did““Okay, nothing is wrong
“Yes, and she disappeared right after his death.”
“Oh my god.”
The maid said he died the same night she left”
“I feel there’s more to it.” He said, and I nodded as I was somehow starting to believe him. I mean, why did the girlfriend disappear in the first place!
Richard then changed the topic, talking of how proud he was of me, until we were done, and then after sorting the bill, we left. He drove me back to the company; he told me he would pick Andreas, and since he was just going to be in his office today, he would stay with him, as I told him I would be ready to go home by five in the evening.
After dropping me off I walked toward the main entrance when someone stopped me. I looked up, and of course, it was Poppy. I honestly didn’t get what she wanted from me.
“How did you even know I would be here?” I asked as I stopped since she was in my way,
“followed you.”
“You what!”
“I want to be in the boy’s life. I’m his aunt, and after what I’ve done for you, it’s only fair.”
“I understand, but you don’t have to stalk me
“I know his school; I can go there now and find him, but I’m seeking permission, so?..”
“I will introduce you two.
“When
“Soon, but before that, can you please stop stalking me and following my son?” I honestly didn’t get her obsession with Andreas. She smiled, and then as if thinking for a second, she nodded her head. I almost walked away when she stopped me, inviting us for dinner.
“I might invite Irene and Logan too.”
“W–what!! Are you insane?”
“Just kidding, but if you want me to keep your secret, then come for dinner; it will just be me and my husband. I’m sure he will be happy to see you.” She said, making me nod my head as I only wanted to get rid of her, “It’s a promise, you know how I am, so if you miss it–
“My family and I will be there on Friday Lcut her off before finally walking past her; god, something must be really wrong with her.
I walked in and wasn’t really looking where I was going until I bumped into someone.
Annoyed at myself, I quickly looked up, intending to apologize and praying it wasn’t Logan, when my eyes met an unbelievable sight.
Victoria, my evil aunt, was standing right in front of me, and what’s more, she had a smirk. My heart skipped a beat as seeing her naturally scared me. I had so many bad memories about her that just a look at her sparked fear in me.
