Chapter 38
Okay, I was really so confused. Why the hell was he calling me? What business did I have with him!
“Mr. Scott?”
“It’s been a while, how are you?”
“Im good. Where did you get my contact?”
“Oh, I did some research. Can we meet for coffee!”
“Excuse me?”
“To talk, I would like to properly apologize.”
“You did apologize four years ago, remember when Logan married me?”
“Yes, but I feel we started off on the wrong ground.”
“I don’t hold it against you, Mr. Scott. You were my boss, and every boss would be so upset when their employee spills whiskey on them Now, is that the only reason you called? Because if it is, then we are done. I have work to do,” I said, almost hanging up when he stopped me. I was now starting to doubt if he maybe knew about Andreas; maybe Poppy told him since she was his wife.
“I would also like to talk about your father–in–law, Mr. Cooper.”
“I believe the right person is my husband.”
“No, it’s you, I
“I’m sorry, but I have to go now. Please never contact me again, okay? We are not friends. With that, I ended the call before I ran my hands through my hair.
What type of joke was this?
Why would Michael call me!
Sure he was working with Richard, I overheard their conversation last night, but why would he want to speak to me? I mean, the last 1 remember was his wife making fun of me at his house during dinner, he didn’t do anything. In fact, I clearly remember him telling Logan how it was a bad idea to marry me as I was just a servant.
“These are not the type of women we marry, Logan, not even if it’s a contract. These were his words.
Now Michael was my first boss; he gave me a job at his bar. Victoria, my aunt, got me the gig. Initially, she signed me up as a hooker. When I reached there and was told my job description, I refused. I literally cried, and the person who was in charge while Michael away was understanding, as she placed me to be a VIP waitress–serving drinks.
I was even a virgin; I couldn’t just lose it to a random man.
Well, not that I wasn’t willing to, as my mom’s life came first. That’s why I easily agreed to the contract marriage after I was fired, as Logan promised to pay for her surgery even when the contract stated that I should sleep with him–basically lose my virginity.
Taking a deep breath, I looked at the bed where my son was; if only he knew how he got here. how he was unplanned
“I will help you have your bath soon so we can watch cartoons on your tablet together,” I said to him, and he didn’t respond as he was playing with his hair, turning my attention to my phone. I dialed Reneas‘ contact, who picked up on the second ring.
“Okay, tell me my boy is okay and that you haven’t bumped into that ex–husband of yours.”
“I’m doing good, how are you, Renea?”
“London misses you.” She laughed, realizing she didn’t greet me, “Okay, how are you? How’s everyone? My boy?” Renea was really attached to Andreas; it was like he was her son. I mean, having taken care of him since a baby, it made sense. Now I understood why Andreas even preferred her over me.
“Everyone is doing great, and Andreas just woke up. Okay, before I tell you anything, tell me about London. How’s the company going? How’s your vacation?” Yes, I gave her a vacation since Andreas was not there, I was supposed to come with her as she still has a yearly vacation, but I wanted my son to get close to me, and her being here would make it impossible.

Chapter 38
“I miss Andreas, I’m still checking places on where to go; I’m thinking of coming there. I mean, America is everything”
“I know, but too bad, we will be coming tonight.”
“What? Why? I mean, I am happy, but I thought you were staying for a month.”
“I know, listen…” I narrated everything to her since I hadn’t gotten time to call her, as the last time I tried to call her. I was interrupted. I told her about Logan being the CEO of the company I was now working with. I mean, if I’m being frank, his company needs me more, than I need them, as despite being the top one, an author was recently dragging them online for cutting her shares. Now that’s big and they could lose billions of dollars: sure, they were trying to keep it low–key, but I found out. I did some research on them last night while feeding Andreas when Richard was getting ready.
I told her all about Noah; she knew about the kiss, and I thought he had forgotten. I then told her about last night’s incident of seeing Logan and Irene at Rodriguez’s mansion and also asking Richard to get into the car without a proper explanation. I knew I had to deal with that soon, as last night we didn’t get to speak. I mean, after that break–in, I was shaken, and I’m sure he didn’t want to put pressure
on me.
I also told her about the break–in, and there she got worried, as she supported the idea of us returning to London.
Then we shifted our conversation to something else. I didn’t just call her to talk about me, but her too. She was my friend, and telling her about my problems and not hearing hers would be selfish of me, so I asked about her–the man who had eyes on her.
Now Renea had this boss–and–employee relationship that she thought listening to my problems was part of her job, so to get anything out of her, I had to insist.
A man was interested in her, but she didn’t like dating. I don’t know why, as I’ve known her for about five years now, and still she didn’t have a boyfriend. Well, she was the one who recommended me to Richard. I achieved everything because of her, so I wanted her to be happy too.
“I don’t know; he asked for a second date, but I’m still thinking about it.” She said, sounding shy, I urged that she go for the second date, then after agreeing, although she didn’t sound convincing, she asked to say hello to Andreas.
“Just a second.” I said as I looked at the bed where Andreas was, but I found it empty. “Andreas?” I quickly got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. “Baby, are you in here?” I asked as I knocked, but when there was no response, I opened the door, and he wasn’t there.
“Patricia, is Andreas there? You sound-
“I’ll call you back” I ended the call as my heart started racing, there were only two rooms here, this and the bathroom, so where was he?
Was he perhaps playing?… The hide–and–seek game?
I quickly got on my knees and checked under the bed even though I knew he couldn’t hide under there, but there was nothing. He wasn’t there.
“Andreas?!” My voice was full of panic. Where the heck could he be? I quickly got the phone and was about to dial Richard when I heard a knock on the door.
Without thinking, I quickly rushed to it, as I hoped it was my son, and it was, but he wasn’t alone; he was with someone… Someone 1 wasn’t expecting to see.
“Logan!”
“Hi.”
